New Owner Here
Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to introduce myself. I just purchased a Silver/Black '02 C320 Wagon with heated seats and sports package. It has 45k (a little more than I wanted), but is in great condition. I am a gearhead and love motorsports and volleyball. This vehicle is for my wife and our soon to arrive child. I look forward to meeting MB owners and learning from this forum.
I am looking for a couple things that I hope you all can help me with. The vehicle only came with one (remote) key and no books. Where can I find another key and the correct manuals for this vehicle? I assume ebay, but is there anywhere else I can check.
I'll try and post some pix of the vehicle this weekend.
Thanks all.
Henry

The keys are made specifically for each car...I think the number was 6 or 8 total for each...original owner gets two, MB keeps the other circuit boards, and no two cars are identically coded. Any MB dealership can get you the spare key for your car...but they're not cheap, and you should press the previous owner or dealer for that key.
If you want to be a little sleazy, and your car is still under warranty, you can buy a used key off e-bay and take it to the dealer saying it doesn't work. Most will just order your replacement without question.

I believe that the dealership can order a new key programmed for your car by VIN. You'll have to show proof of ownership. My car only came w/ one key and the second cost ~$105. (like $85 for the key and $20 to program) A lot, but not a lot considering should I lose the one i'd be SOL for the 2 -3 days it took the dealer to get the new one.
If you register under owners online on mbusa.com you can download a pdf of your owners manual. I've also tried to request one several times from both my dealership and mbusa and have yet to recieve one. surprise surprise. oh yeah and welcome to the forum.

Get the key for the sedan, it has a trunk release button that works the hatch. For some reason, the wagon and coupe remotes don't have this button. The dealers have keys, they just have to be coded to your car just like most cars these days. Even my metal Ford key has to be coded to the car.

Thanks guys.
I've found lots of keys on ebay that look like the same (with the addition of the trunk button). If I get one of these can the dealer just code (reprogram) for my vehicle?
I also found manuals for about $35. Does that sound reasonable?

In short, the answer is NO but you can always buy one anyway and then mod both as per the instruction on this forum. Please make use of the search feature to find out a lot of things for and about your vehicle; which includes ebay key sales.
