Alarm Chirp

I tried to have my dealer chirp the car alarm and here's the answer.

Attemp to program alarm. Program for vehicle out of country. This will interupt other options on vehicle. Foreman and Manager advise against this programing as will cause other version coding issues.

Anyone in the bay area tried doing it ?

on c32life.com we have talk about this issue over and over and over. the setting is called "norway" or something. a fellow c32 owner have tried it and told us that after changing the setting the panic buttom on the smartkey no longer works. i don't know about other problems though.

i use to think that have the chirp sound is better but now it doesn't matter that much. i make sure i lock my door twice everytime.

that's exactly why i want the chirp. So I can lock it once and know that it is locked.

Here's my opinion. If you guys can get past what you might think is "cool" about the alarm chirping, I think the verification via the headlights flashing is sufficient, at least for me. I really like Mercedes' quiet approach to many things -- why do you need all the fuss? Like I said, I understand this is only my opinion.

See Garage
After 14 months of ownership, I still find myself turning around to admire the car as I walk away from it. So I find the three light flashes more than adequate to tell me the car is locked, since I can't resist looking, anyway.

I think the lights are more fitting of the car... My daughter's new Neon chirps... a cheap sound at that. To each his own.

MarkL, you beat me by a minute, again! LOL, buddy!

I guess I'm just low class then, as I really like having the audible verification as well.

If only we all were as cool as you two ...

The chirp can be too conspicuous. You already drive a benz, no need to draw more attention. On the otherhand, you probably don't drive in some of the neighborhoods I go to anyway.

I like the chirp... it finds my car in large parking lots.

MB coupe.
I like no chirp. Three flashs is enough for me, nice and discrete.
