2005 Thermotronic (digital climate control)

2005 Thermotronic (digital climate control)
Does anyone know the part number(s) for the 2005 W203 digital climate control (Thermotronic)? From what I read in the threads the CLK part number doesn't seem to work. However, on MB's european web sites Thermotronic is an available option for the C230 SS. Therefore, I thought there might be other part numbers. I would love to do this mod and would appreciate any help I can get.

I have that installed in my car http://homepage.mac.com/drsunilpatel/PhotoAlbum14.html It works in my car but I have a c320. The c320s come with thermatronic already. I upgraded to the new interior and added the newer thermatronic and it works in my car but it may not work in your car as previous owners have tried. It's another hit and miss thing. Also, you can't order it in the USA. THe one pictured has the air cleaner button. The ones in the clk are digital but don't have the air cleaner.

all c classes have a basic paper filter on the intake side of the a/c system which is above the battery. However, the c320s have a extra pollen/charcoal filter located inside the cabin. To activate this feature, you have to press the button and it will redirect air to these filters and back out of the vents. As far as adding the digital version to the 05 cars, I am not too sure about. Previous owners 01-04 that did not have digital climate control to begin with, have added the digital controls. The filter button does nothing though in these cars. Also, the digital controls for 01-04 come in several software versions and some work for some people while others do not. It's a guessing game. As for 05 USA cars, none have the digital climate control. I have heard that adding it afterwards will not work for some reason. I am not sure, and it probably has not been tested thoroughly. USA CLK cars from 05 have digital climate control but no air filter button as in the picture above. These controls may work on the C classes for 05 but I am not sure if anyone has tested these.

Here is a picture of the digital a/c unit in the SLK. Note that there is only one fan control knob like all the non thermotronic C's (c230's, 240's and all 05's). Hummmmmm...

...and here is a picture of the 2005 W203 and R171 climatronic units next to each other...the R171 ones don't fit in the 203s and as far as I have been trying the 2005 W203 climatronic units in the 2005 US 203s - there hasn't been ONE yet that worked properly...

This was something that bugged me a little when I was getting my car. It was a toss up between the new C280 and the C350 models, and then I found out that they did not offer the digital climate control in the states "at all" on the C-class anymore.... So, I went with a fully decked C280. I would have preferred the digital climate control thats available on even the cheapest of cheap Audi....
