why are the gauges the same as 2005 models?

I just noticed something about the C280's gauges. I thought that the 2006 models had a white rim/trim around the guages in the instrument cluster. Clearly that is not the case with this 2006 car. Perhaps that is only part of an option package? Or maybe only the "sport" sedans have it???

Even with the hood (bonnet) up, you STILL cannot see the engine!

The underhood dressing looks very nice. It is no longer just engineering under the bonnet, there is some nice "set decoration" going on there.

GMW, I have not been in Kampala for years, but I have never seen such a beautiful car. You are lucky indeed. Did your car come from Germany or South Africa? Who ever put it together did an outstanding job.

Thanks!!! This one is from South Africa. All Right Hand Drive C-classes for the entire world now come out of S.A.. DaimlerChrysler built a dedicated assembly plant there that they control out of Germany and as far as I know all the electronics, gearboxes, engines etc... are shipped in from Germany. Even the vehicle invoicing is done in Germany and sent in to the local MB dealer.

When were you last in Kampala? It is a fast growing city now!! Also Lots of cool cars from G55 AMGs, E55K AMG, C32 AMG to the new CLSs snd pretty much everything else in the MB range. The new RHD ML will be here in September.

I love the dual stage intake too! The engine is as smooth as silk. Sometimes you can forget it's on at idle. I must confess though that I sometimes...okay....a lot of the time drive it just to listen to the exhaust note. It changes its character as you progress up through the rev range.

One other thing I've noticed is that it still pulls from 5000rpm all the way to its 6,200 or 6,500rpm limit. Its quite exhilarating, though there are times when you are like whoah don't need that much acceleration right now...didn't want you to skip all the way down to 2nd gear.

The new DIRECT CONTROL tweeks together with the AMG wheels make the handling excellant. Much more of a driver's car than my previous C.
