Question c230 Coupe Armrest + Cup Holder Removal

Hey Guys,

I was curious if anyone knew exactly or could explain in detail how to remove the retractable cup holder and armrest for the 2002 c230 coupe? I have been searching the forums on this subject and have so far had no luck finding the resources. I want to remove the telephone cabling meant for the hands free telephone to run some audio wires for my ipod. If anyone could direct me in the right direction or provide me with a detailed explanation with photos it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

you can run the Aux from COMAND to the center armrest and plug it in that way! if you have COMAND. also you have to remove the center aluminum trim in order to remove the cup holder. the trim has to removed by taking out the ashtray. if i remember right to remove the ash tray you have to remove the center aluminium trim as well.

Aftermarket head unit

Hey Guys,

I will be running a mini audio jack to RCA left+right audio cable from my ipod to my aftermarket head unit's auxiliary input. Removing the ashtray and the aluminum trim is easy but from there I am at a lost on how the retractable cup holder assembly is removed. I noticed that there are two clips nearest to the shifter, which loosens it a bit but does not completely release the assembly. Once again my c230 coupe is the 2002 year model...thus before the permanent cup holder was incorporated into the cars interior. Thanks guys.

As you are sitting in your drivers seat you will see (using a light) toward the front right of the cupholder area a spot to press in and turn the cupholder clockwise and it will come right out. Make sure that you have the rubber insert removed from the bottom of the cupholder area before you try to twist the pop-up cupholder. When you are ready to put it back just reverse your procedure.
