Engine Enhancing Software
hmmmm.....
i am not interested in chipping as this is easily detected by the dealership when you bring it in for service. what i am looking for is a software package that is loaded driectly onto the car's main computer which if detected by the dealership will appear as greeked code, and can therefore plead ignorance... any thoughts?
Any "software" upgrade to a car usually means changing the stock programs for ignition advance and timing. This is usually housed in the car's ECU. All modern fuel injection cars have an ECU.
When people say "chipping" a car, they mean reprograming the ECU. In most cases, the "chip" is not really a new physical device or hardware. Rather, the existing ECU is reprogrammed with new software.
Some cars don't require the ECU to be removed and the reprogaming can be done through ODB ports (I think). On modern Mercedes engines, the ECU has to be physically removed from the car to be reprogrammed.
To answer your question, I think what you are looking for is a typical ECU upgrade or "chip". Whatever term you use, you will have to remove your ECU from the car to be reprogrammed. Look up Powerchip, Kleeman, Upsolute, and Renntech.
In theory, the reprogramming is "undetectable" by the dealer, but who knows....

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
chipping, flashing, reprogramming = all the same thing.
and yes you can do it through the ODB ports. First you download your car's current programming, send it to any of the aforementioned tuners, and in return they will send the program with the enhanced coding back for uploading.
Dealer's cannot detect it, unless they're playing around with your Dyno mode, and have a baseline report to compare it to. Which they won't / don't do.
What may happen, and most tuners are aware of this, and will thus guarantee a re-flash in case it does, is that a dealership may FLASH your ECU back to original specs, if the problem they are trying to fix, requires it. Kinda like computer repair specialists, who don't know how to read code, and their solution to everything is "REBOOT" / "REFORMAT".
I had my ECU re-programmed by RENNtech, and I am extremely satisfied !

before deciding on anything,
do searches using "ECU" and all of the tuners named individually.
It's hard to believe nothing came up in the search.
Then check out all of the tuner's individual web sites. Each has descriptions on what their ECU Upgrade does (including HP/TQ increases, fuel management, speed limiters, ignition / timing, etc....)
There's tons of info out there. Good luck.
