I get 6.6 - 6.8 stock! on an E that's hardly broken in yet... is it the new V6? or is it Brit cars? how can it be so slow?
I looked it up with google.. indeed they claim 6.9... makes no sense.. since the car is 500lbs lighter than an E. It must be the I-6 and 5 speed that make the difference.

I heard that MB always understate and that practice is better than theory...but
that still doesn't answer why the C(V) is 6.9 (to 62.5), the E(V) is 6.8 with same engine, power, torque, gearbox and they lose out to the E(I)

Sometime ago we discused here what where the differences between the E and C class cars with the 320 engine and the E was more powerfull with the same engine just because of the longer exhausts!!!
It's the same with my fathers Audi A6 3.0 V6 TDI with 225hp and the A8 3.0TDI has 233hp!!! And the same with accelaration times, for the A6 7.9 anounced, but I clocked 6.8!!! :p
With RennTech (I have about 15% more power), I'm getting 6.4 to 6.5...
I would expect the C to be as fast or faster...

Some days ago I asked the same thing to other forum member in US with also an E320CDI but he didn't like so much the, how it calls "turbo lag", but what I think he really wanted to say its the low bandwith engine compared to the higher rev v6 and v8 he is used to, because these diesel cars don't have turbo lag because of it "VGT" turbos!!!
In europe with so many twisty roads the diesels are a joy to drive because of its low rev and bigger torque than the petrol engine, but on US with so open roads the diesels don't have so great acceleration and top speed than they're equivelent petrol engine, thats my opinion but... :p
Other thing, your CDI is an Auto or manual version?
With manual versions we can feal better the joys of torque!
The US E320 CDI has a rear-axle ratio of 2.65:1, Euro is 2.47:1. Higher eventual speed for the Euro (no electronic limiter) but slower accelleration. Better fuel economy especially during extended high-speed cruise.
Same may be true for the C.

CDIken, that makes sense... thanks.
Gaiex.. I love it! Absolutely love it! Turbo lag is minimal... and the real problem is mostly the initial off the line acceleration.. but when it kicks in.. IT KICKS! I would love nothing more than an E55... but for me that's just not practical or a wise purchase right now... so the next best thing is the CDI.. it's very quick (especially once it's rolling) but it's EXTREMELY cheap to drive.. I've had it 3 months and I've only purchased 6 tankfulls!! 4200+ on the odo miles!
Seems like most of the Euro cars are the 220 and 270.... are 320's pretty rare in the EU?

EU loves Diesel cars, 50% of new cars in europe are now diesel :p
diamond black - no longer worried - very nice! lovely car!
