I have 20% on all around on my Black C320

In fact, I am also getting my front windshield tinted soon (32%) because I want it a little darker still. In case your wondering if I have ever gotten pulled over the answer is no and I have had my car (with tints) for about a year. Btw, my friend has a yellow IS300
with 5% all around a front front windshield tinted 30%, he's only been pulled over twice in about 2 years.

tint laws vary depending on state and area. when I was in college, my car had 20% all around and i had it like that for about 4 years. i got nabbed a week before graduation in a podunk town called strasburg in virginia.

now that i'm up in the DC area, the laws are a bit more enforced here.. so i decided to lighten up. i still see a lot of cars with darker tints. it doesn't appear to be a problem.

Yeah, they're pretty strict down here (so cal). I got pulled over for not having a front license plate, that was the biggest waste of my tax payer dollars. They gave me a fix-it ticket, which included $15 to have a guy peep his head out of a window to verify that i put a license on. plus a $15 transaction fee, plus a big waste of my time. A fix-it ticket for tint would involve the same hassel. so i think i need something pretty light on the front 2 windows. i guess 35 front 20 rear.

also what is that tint that's on the windshield it looks kind of purple, is it an anti-glare tint?

I had my CLK55 done at Solar Eclipse. (Got the info from Newbie)

$140 for 35% Onyx all around including soft velcro in 1 HOUR!!!

One piece in the back and up to the edge on the side windows. Everybody else quoted me $250 and one place $375 (By Design, L.A.) plus they wanted the car all day.

Awesome Service & great guys at Solar Eclipse.

Which tint?

Which tint should i get. The first pic shows the blue tint from the sports packages on other mercedes. The second pic shows just a regular tint. And the third one is me just screwing around so if you pick it, well i know what to think.

Blue Sport Tint
Black Tint
Demon Tint

Demon tint is definitely the way to go. You'll have every teen in four counties following you everywhere you go.

How about no tint? You should have put that in your poll too. I dont like tint too much. I think its something from the past.

You're in so cal, you have a black on black car. How hot does it get? That's why i want to get tint. But i like the way the blue sport tint looks. It's subtle and clean looking. I just need to find a place to get it done. I don't know how functional it is though. Would it block out anything, besides UV.

If not blue than black. and if black i would most likely get 50% all around so i won't get a fix-it ticket.

I had tint before and I dont think it made my car that much cooler from the direct sunlight especially with a black car. I guess if I had to then I would get titanium tint. That looked alright...it was a bit on the greenish hue. My sports tint does nothing really. It just kinda looks cool. A little different than the norm I guess.

Actually I stand corrected. My fathers tint made his car a bit cooler...then again he tinted every window in his car including the sunroof again, front winshield, etc. Its a Lexus SC300 btw black. His car when he tinted everything made it a tad cooler when he got in. He has titanium tint too.

Just remember to get your window moldings replaced with felt/moleskin when you get your tint done. Otherwise your going to have Scratched Tint, which may be the only thing worse than Demon Tint.

I'd go with none of those pictured except the dark possibly. If I were going to tint my coupe which I probably won't (I know me) I do think that the titanium fade to black looks pretty tough. I've seen it look stupid too and I don't know if it could be done tastefully on a Benz but that's my preference in tints.

There is one thing that I am concern about tinting the windows. The rear view mirror and the driver side mirror are auto dimming, which I like the feature a lot. The sensor is on the rear view mirror and if I tint the rear window, it will cancel out the auto dimming feature which is not such a big deal on the rear view mirror. However, the driver side mirror will not be dimmed.

Is the Magma Red stock comes with the black grill? It looks nice, would be nicer if the embem star is in black as well.

Rear window tint had no effect on the mirror, work just fine, and no effect on the front band tint with the rain sensor. Black out tape on front grill, like that star.........

black tint definately helps in dark colored cars, out in the sun. that and a sunsahde usually make it tolerable. i am just worried about fade and scratching.

Toyota Tacoma & Lexus IS250
even if you spray paint the windows black it will still get hot inside the car from the radiant heat....so you're basically tinting for the looks.

I think "tinting" the windows is obsolete....now if you're picking a virtually clear coating with UV protection...that's a different story.

just get the one YOU like the best.

Question Tinting questions

1. I read in some other thread that the seal in on the inside of the window is so abrasive that it will actually scratch the tint... I want to put on tint... so I want to know if any other people has done it and have problems... if so, how did you guys dealt with it? (I saw some people post about molehair seals... )

2. What % you guys recommand? I and thinking 20% or 35% the whole car... not a big fan of tinting the cars with different %... if you got picture of your car w/ tint... please post...

3. If you guys know anyone in the Bay Area that you strongly recommand, please let me know... I need a shop that knows what they are doing and not make a mess... Tinting can get messy... (from the water/solvent spray, guys climb in and out of the tight space, and the bending of the window seals)
