- C240 performance mods -

HRMMMM>>>
does anyone know of any performance mods for c240?
I'm not looking for any specific price range... just some general info.
Are there any super/turbo chargers?
Exhausts that give a little kick?
Headers?
Downpipe?

-=-thanks.. for the help.-=-

Sounds like you need a Kleemann supercharger

huh?

it sure does sound like thats what i'm looking for but there is one thing that confuses me...

Why does that website say that the C240 stock HP is 204 ???... shouldn't it be something like 168?

-And why does it say the toque is 189lb-ft... ?? 177 lb-ft is more like it....

Whats going on?

I think they just made a mistake. The numbers with the supercharger look correct, though.

am i reading the price correctly? $8500??? or should that be $850 (1 less 0)?

if it costs $8500+installation, i'd consider trading the car in for a C320. if that's not a viable option, i'd start learning to like the way the c240 is...

young-
keep in mind that supercharger will give the car 260hp... as opposed to C320 215hp.

I guess there may end up being a couple of problems with the supercharger : fuel economy, engine, and what not... so i do see your point..

But i'd still take the power of C240K over the C320.

I agree. If speed is that important, for the cost of a C240 and supercharger one is encroaching on 333 hp M3 or C32 territory (esp. when one considers that a supercharged C240 should have its wheels, tires, suspension, etc. improved to match the power). And if you bought a C32 or M3 you'd have a car that has a full factory warranty and decent resale value.

ah, touche! you're talking a whole lot more power...

the $8500 seems more reasonable now that i'm over the sticker shock

I,m not certain, but I think the Evosport guys said installation is about $2000, but you might call them to be sure.

Here is Kleemann's web page

The Kleemann dealer nearest you which can install the supercharger is AI Design

Unfortunately, there is not much upgrading one can do to the sedan motors. The Kleemann supercharger is one of the only things you can do to get the most performance increases. I know Carlsson is making a supercharger for the C240/C320 also. Not sure if it is available in the market yet. But cost is a big issue...$10000 for an additional 90hp. Renntech also has motor mods...cold airbox/re-programmed ECU/exhaust for about $4-5000. It really is not cost effective to try to modify the motor..if warranty issues and cost is not a factor, then the Kleemann supercharger is the way to go.

See Garage
Let's see... $10K for 90 HP, vs. $4K for 47 HP (the incremental cost of a C320). IMO, you could trade the C240, take a hit on depreciation, and still come out with less than $10K to get a C320. Of course, if you had the extra cash sitting around (your dreams of upgrades indicates so) when you bought the car, you could have skipped the depreciation loss, got the C320, and still have money left over for some mods.

Of course, you could just sell the C240 to CarMax, pocket the $30K and pay only $27K to buy 287 HP stock... in a Nissan 350Z. If HP means that much to you, I would go this route. Otherwise, I think you might want to be happy with the 168 HP you have now, and get better organized for the next car in a couple of years.

These guys make pretty good upgrades for the motormanagement maps:

http://www.hs-elektronik.com/datenbl...0ps-240nm.html

Though the most effect will be gained on a turbo engine (HP wise anyway).
Don't know about NA engines, but I do know from the turbo engines mercedes makes very generic enigne mappings. So the difference might not only be a few gained hp's, but a smoother running engine with better pickup...

C32 AMG
The one BIG advantage you would have by adding the Kleemann blower to the C240 over trading it in for the C320 is that you would now have a fast benzo in a MANUAL transmission.

If want to get a little kick out of your c240, i would suggest these to get you going.

1. Green Air Filters- it's not a lot, but it help compensate for the next mods you could do. http://www.greenfilterusa.com/vehicl...ke=Benz%20C240

2. Evosport Hearders 10-15HP. http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/e...3-p-13665.html

3. Sprintbooster or Resetting your Throttle - I do not recommend one over the other, both are great in my opinion to reduce your throttle lag when accelerating. I currently do not know where you can buy a Sprintbooster, but if you find out please let me know along with the price .

Here is how you can do the throttle response reset.
1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.

2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds. (all the way to the kick down mode)

3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.

4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset. (you should here a click)

if you want to spend around 10k for supercharger, you might as well sell the car and buy a C32. and that will give you a lot more than 260.
