On average, the percentage difference from LIST to NET prices
is roughly 25.2%-26.3%
not sure why exactly the slight fluctuations, maybe it has something to do with US $ vs EURO values.
Recently I've gotten an additional 10% off with my MBCA membership.

You are correct that there are 3 levels of pricing, however the terminology is a little different. The levels are:
Suggested list
Wholesaler net
Dealer Net
Did you notice is says "suggested?" Like anything, it comes down to what they want to charge you. A good case in point - dealers aren't supposed to mark up special tools at all. All three price levels are the same, however most every dealer does mark tools up regardless. It's a shame that so many dealers are only out for a quick buck no matter what....

Yeah, I'd be interested in a group buy, but its got to be a whole lot less than 256 bucks.
Who wants to bet the internals are identical...just a new shell.

By the way, the problem isn't MBUSA, it's the dealer. Dealers will charge whatever they want, because they can. That a bad part of the deal, but it is what it is.

my key doesn't have a trunk button
I have a 2002 c230 coupe. I don't have a trunk button on my fob. if I was to get a 3 button would my car do anything with the hatch button?

The hatch doesn't open with the 3rd button? WTF? Why bother then? Is this something that can be changed via programming like the door lock chirp?
How hard do I need to press on the blank 3rd button area to get it to unlock the hatch? My finger is starting to hurt and no red light blinking to indicate any thing pressed. Are you sure this works? If the button is there under the blank are a of the key, could I buy a key cover to get the button? what is the part number of the older style 3 button case?

a key is a key, who gives a fork what it looks like?
It's in your pocket all the time anyway right? Show me the person impressed by the outward appearance of a key, and I'll show you a sheltered, reclusive, bean bag.

Yes, keep pressing it until I tell you to stop, ok?
Honestly, it should work for you, but I had to press VERY hard for it to work.
I'm not sure if the LED goes off or not when the hatch unlocks. I'd think that the latch mechanism does not facilitate the popping of the hatch, and probably with the weight of the ccoupe's hatch, it would require a fairly hefty actuator.
TR - my living room could use a bean bag. Please PM me the details. Thanks!

Smartkey
You guys can try www.sunmotorcars.com in PA. Ask for Chris, he charged me $143 inclusive of shipping on a new smartkey with the blade insert. Tell him you saw this post, he'll work with you. Yes, you'll need to provide proof and ownership and identification to support your registration.

yes the hatch unlocks if you push the 3rd button on a replaced 3-button case. It will NOT pop up like the trunk on a sedan, it will merely unlock and pop it up just a little bit, so that with absolutely no effort or pulling on the handle, the hatch can be pulled up. If you want the hatch to pop up and smack you in the face, then i would suggest getting some compressed-air cylinders or springs to do a customized job.
If you're going to press on the blank part of where the 3rd button should be, you might need pliers, and end up breaking the FOB.
there's a way to get a 3-button FOB via warranty for your Coupé, if you're really interested, but since I've posted it so many times now.... i'll just let you search for it.

the blank button
I finally got the blank button area to compress. I had to use a pair of plyers. No I didn't breat the key housing. I wrapped the key in paper towels and squeesed gently. the hatch unlocked and the red light blinkled. That's cool but since the hatch does not open, i'm not going to worry about it. I think it would be great to get the keys swapped out under warranty. I couldn't find the posts explaoning how to do this. maybe my search criteria was not correct. maybe someone will pass along a link.
I did a search and found a company selling the 3 button keys cheep. they mentioned that I'd have to take them to a dealer to have them programmed. how much does that cost? is it worth it.
What exactly would I need to get the hatch to popup? If I could get it to popup, how much harder would it be to close?

called over there, Chris was gone for the day, and talked to his co-worker who claims to have 7 years experience there.. and he insisted that the new key is only on the 2007 ML.. and that if he ordered me a key (using my Vin) they would ship him the identical key to what I already have..
Anyway.. a group buy is the best solution I think if we can find a competent dealer who will insure that the replacement keys are not like the old ones. Count me in if we can do this.
