Then just show him the picture of my key in the EIS of a C Class! That should prove that it is possible.

When the parts person puts the order in with the new key part number and your vin, it is true that the screen says that the key doesn't match the vin you entered, and that you should check your information. However, if you just hit enter again, the message goes away and it takes the order. Stick to your guns - it does work!!

Can you arrange a group buy on these since you seem to have an "in" with the stealer in your area? I think we could easily get a 100 of these from all over the forum?

I wish I could, but it isn't possible. Sorry. If I do hear of anyone that would, I'll let you know for sure.

I never said they did or didn't.. whom ever wants to make the profit can do it, dealer or otherwise.

You know, after I put up that post, I got to thinking that there is someone I know at a dealer that may be up for this type of thing. Probably not a group buy, but at least a competent parts person who may be open to this type of thing.

I'm going to contact him and see what he says.

that key looks nice... but I think $250 looks even nicer... I'll stick with the $250 (unless we get a good thing going here)

you are saying that the $250 cash looks better than the key? I agree... I think $150 is fair.. it's just like this Remote control for the Comand.. they wanted $240 for it! That's as bad as the $1000 for adding Sirus radio (an otherwise $100 component at most)..

MB needs to work on bringing their part prices down to earth... there is expensive, and then there is Mercedes

Thanks... don't break your neck! Also if it's going to cost $200+ don't worry about it.

I've got the 3-button FOBs for my Coupé. Had them swapped out under warranty about a year ago. The hatch button just unlocks the hatch; doesn't pop it up like the sedan trunk.
but, does it open a little? for when we got the hands with luggage for example!
If so, its just enough

No, it doesn't pop up at all, just unlocks. Yes, it's a silly design.

OK guys, I have a contact that can make this happen. The key (remote) and blade (blade key) together are going to cost $217.70 + tax. Normal price at his dealership would be $273 + tax, so he is giving us a break.

Anyone that wants to order a key from him will have to pm me, and I'll give you his phone number. I don't want to just post it out there. Then you can call him and go from there.

In addition, you will need to provide the appropriate information proving that you own the vehicle that you are purchasing a key for.

If the cost seems too much, don't rag on me. That's the way it is. If lapdances are more important, go right ahead. If you want something cool for your car, here it is.

Mike

The part number is actually a keyless go key, but it will still work no problem on a non keyless go car.
Hey guys, there is a supersession on the part number of the key remote.

It used to be: A 221 766 09 06 9999

It now is: A 230 766 10 06 9999

The part number for the blade is unchanged.
