i had the same exact problem... i just spent 3 hours working on it... cleaned up all the old grease inside the gears... reapplied fresh grease- and fixed...

ill spend that 1K+ the dealer would probably want to fix on some other toy.....

When mine broke ....

The dealer was working from both rear seats and trunk because there was some "stain" on my rear seats after the work was done.

If you clear your trunk, and look up you will see the sunshade assembly( looks like a stainless / aluminum bar, there are screws there, un screw it then pull the unit out from the rear seats.

Your problem is the Motor, it is off track, so all you have to do is try to aligne it back on track and it should roll.

Have fun.
Can you please show step by step guide on how to remove the blinds, mine goes down completely and makes some sort of drilling noise stops.

See post #35 of this thread. It's not a fun task. You should read all the steps first before trying it. Make sure that you do not change the orientation of the gearbox output shaft because that will change when it turns off the motor to stop it from going too far up or down.

Some have found that the grease in the gearbox was the problem. It wasn't for me and in fact I don't know what the problem is as I wasn't able to fix it (I do know the motor works and outside of the car, the shade will move by pressing the switch). Sometime when I have more time I might take another look.

DIY for roller portion of sun shade

Great thread for removing of sun shade, but no one mentioned how to fix the roller to spool up. Here is how to do it.
