Thumbs up Another new member, sort of...

Well, I've officially been a member for a few years now but haven't really posted anything (too much work...). I want to give a big THANKS to everyone on this forum for all the advise and information I've read through the years to finally make my purchase amongst other things. I purchased in July 04' so I've had the car just over a year and I have many experiences to tell but I will seperate into different posts. I have attached a couple pictures and will post more later. Done a few little mods like clear side markers, door pins, SRS badges, Comand install and Blaupunkt Sirius radio and more planned (I got the mod bug). Picked up an 05' black C230SS with lighting package, HK system, heated seats and sunroof package. I think this is one of the best looking cars out there just wish it had more ponies as everyone always wants to race me. Hello again to everyone and talk to you soon.....

It was around $800 and change from eBay. It's actually for the CLK which the only difference is there is a 1/2 inch gap on each side but you really don't notice it.

Glad to see you start posting.....
You sure got a lot of wires going on. I'm sure you have one for your cell phone too. Do you put all of it away everytime you leave your car (i.e. radar detector, sirius radio, etc).....

Yeah I know it's about time...
Too many wires but just haven't had time to decide how I want to really make it look nice. There are two satellite antenna's (Comand, Siruis) and an FM transmitter wire by the top speaker, then the radar power wire running down with the other power wires to a double socket cigarette adaptor. There all tucked away in that net on the passanger side floor that I have no use for.
No, I never put them away as it would take too much time plus there stationary pieces, I just can't close the ashtray cover. The Sirius is tucked into the very top right vent and just sits perfectly for viewing so no drilling holes or 3M tape ect...

How hard was it to install the Nav system since it is made for a CLK?

It was really easy, basically plug and play suprisingly. The difference in the CLK unit is the 4 screw holes; they don't line up exactly but I just forced it a little and it was fine. I used a Bosch GPS antenna (It's the box in the picture) and ran it up through the top speaker and it works perfect, as I most always receive 7 Sat. As soon as you install, it will work right away. The only problem is the directional arrows won't show up on the instrument cluster menu. I believe that can be programed/enabled at the dealer but I haven't tried it yet.

Hi Shy-Benz, well done for posting.

Few questions about your nice car.... which will be similar in appearance to mine which arrives shortly (UK C320CDI)

Is yours Obsidian or Diamond Black or other?

What's with the door pins? I have seen them advertised and cheap - do they look much better? are they easy to fit?

SRS Badges = airbag badges?

Hi Blassberg -

The color is standard black (040).

The door pins are aluminum and they look good and fit flush. They were very easy to install, unscrew the old and screw the new ones on. Also, got the aluminum surrounds for the base. No golf tees to dig into my arm on a hot summer day

The SRS badges (airbag badges) were replaced with chrome plated badges. I wasn't sure about how it would look at first but I really like it now. I thought it would clash with the aluminum trim but it matches with the door handles and gives it a different look. Got them from Jerry at formymercedes who is awesome to deal with.

Hey thanks! The radar saved me many times, it's a Cobra. I really wanted the Escort but didn't feel like shelling out the cash for one then, especially the extra $40 for the blue display so I could match the Comand blue. Eventually I slip it through the vent, probably hide the wires this winter in the garage when you can't do anything outside
