Head units

Hi all,

I have done searches till blue in the face and I cant find a definitive answer. So far I understand that it is not easy to fit an iPod adaptor into my 2001 C Class with Audio 10 single CD, so has anyone successfully changed their headunits to integate an iPod and still keep their steering wheel buttons, cruise control and speedo display working.

I am currently looking at a Kenwood or Alpine head unit, both are top of the range and have facilities for OEM wired remotes, but the Apline site says may loose speed control. I didnt buy a Merc with lots of nice features to change the head unit and loose these.

So if anyone who has changed their headunits reply with their findings it would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Stu

NO one has changed the head unit to after market without losing the controls.

Well lot of people reported that there were devices that alipe or some other manufacturer offered to keep the steering controls, yet no 1 has actually tried this on this forum. I'd try searching elsewhere, because it seems it would be possibly, just depends how much time n money you have

No to mention you need a few close connections to get this to work.

Thanks for your answers, I think I will give up on the idea of changing my head unit to an aftermarket one. Think I may just get a COMAND unit instead. Cheaper and easier in the long run.
