Question where is the AUX IN???????

Hi,

I know there has been loads of posted on this subject but when I try to search I can't find exactly the right info.

Can someone tell me exactly where the AUX IN connector input wire is located and how I get to it, my car is a 2005 (W203) C200 CDI Avantgarde Auto with sports package, is a UK car so I'm guessing the US cars will have a very simlar layout with things just on the opossite side. also can anyone point me into the right direction as to where I can buy the AUX cable have made an enquiry at the MB dealer and they only now about the IPOD kit problem is I don't have an IPOD so I need the AUX IN.

Thanks!!!

The wiring join is in the door sill ..... so then you need you need to buy the cable that travels from the the door sill to the glove box up the side of the footwell. Most dealers will know it as the "walkman cable" or "AUX cable".

The door sill near the glove box. It is engineered by Germans and not Italians.

I posted a pic of the connector in the door sill a while back...have a look in this thread about a quarter of the way down:

https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...&highlight=aux

The left pic is the aux cable stripped of the end connector (the connector that would be on that end would connect to the cable in the sill i.e. the right pic).

I just noticed you have a Eurospec car. If you are in the UK then you may not be prewired (all US cars are prewired). This means you probably do not have the connector in the door sill. If this is the case you will have to hardwire the aux cable straight into the C2 connector in the back of your command or Audio10 etc. (Now, thats assuming the set up is tha same on the newer systems...I'm taking in terms of pre-2004 MBs)

Diz382benz on MBKlasse was selling an aux cable. He may still have it.

It's not wired into the CD player but rather in the into the headunit. Buy an aux cable from Steve (aka MBenzNL) and he will show you how to do it.

The part number for the cable is A 203 540 61 07. You audio head unit must have aux in to use the cable. To test for this push and hold the CDC switch for two seconds. If the display screen shows AUX in ACTIVE, you have it.

The miniplug end of the cable mounts in the knockout you see in the glovebox. The cable runs down behind the panel in front of the door, then is routed into the door sill. There is a connector in the door sill that mates with the cable and carries the signal into the head unit.

Reach into the sill, and pull the wires up, you will find the connector in there. It is usually folded, and tucked in toward the front of the car.

I see, I have looked as far as where the door hinges are and couldn't see the cable do I need to remove the triangle shaped panel is it likely to be there?

Can anyone here confirm wether the 2005 UK C class has the aux in connector in the door seal and will the part no. A 203 540 61 07 be the same for the uk?

p.s if I press and hold cdc the head unit displays AUX ACTIVE.

No, his car is Eurospec...he doesn't have the door sill connector pre-wired in his car (unless 2005s have changed). He needs to wire it into the C2 connector in the back of the HU.

For pre-2004 US-spec cars you have this wiring harness. It incorporates all necessary component wiring even if you do not have the various components. The aux cable connector found in the door sill is shown on the bottom of the diagram. The separate cable labelled with the "300" is the aux cable that attaches to the door sill connector and comes out at the glove box. Eurospec MBs in Australia and UK etc. do not have this harness. You can get this put into your car if you like but it is a hell of alot more work than simply wiring it into the C2.

I believe the 05's (actually 06's) have changed.

Swale - I think they are finding them in the UK now.

The missing door sill connector is in the area of the kick panel not the door opening. So you need to remove the vertical plastic plate near the ankle area and since that is coming out then so is the door sill too (and some lifting of the rubber seal to get into the clips of the plastic panel.

It would help a great deal if one buys the cable first and then looks for the wiring second. You will notice that in EPC the page shown above indicates that the body harness is -805 (not valid for 2005 spec) - hence no C2 connector.

Using this Pre-2005 harness is much more flexible since it allows you to put back the radio into the old location should you choose to. It also comes with the CD stacker wiring and that is a bonus for many people considering the stacker after installing COMAND.

I use this wiring method in all W203 pre-2005. Unless the car has a CD stacker from factory.

All AUX cables for the glovebox are the same in all W203 since 2000-till now. What has changed is that now in the 2005+ series the cars are all prewired not just if there is a COMAND GPS.

The pre-2005 apparently use a different wiring system to your car...so there is no longer a C2 connector on your 2005 HU. If you refer to the above diagram the C2 is the connector labelled with the 20, 30, 40, 210. If you were going to hardwire the aux cable into the HU you would wire it into that connector. But as Miro has just informed us, there is no longer that connector (is that right Miro?)

In 2005 spec cars (cars with MOST) the rear of the head unit has a single block quick release compound connector with wires and optic. Looks like this.
