It costs Iran $ 4 to pull a barrel of oil out of the sand and deliver it. They collect $ 65 for it. Yes they can afford the police version of the W203, which has prewiring for two way radio, and the light bar on the roof.

Turns out it IS our money!

that's cool. usually countries like to use their 'own' car companies to as their police fleet, but the iranian car has come to an end recently (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4551841.stm).

That's funny how you use BBC as a reference when the British mostly use German and Italian cars in their force! :p

Reinforcing my case.

Actually I remember reading some article about a Rover factory having a strike, and to stop the riots, police showed up in a bunch of BMW's or something and then the strike really got out of control. I think it was in CAR Magazine.

TVR is Russian.
I don't think Lotus is either, I just can't remember who they sold out too.

C200k Coupe (AMG)
Lotus are owned by Proton (Malaysian). TVRs are still 'British' i.e. made in Britain (its just that some russian oligarch bought them...!).

we have a load of small sports car makers like Noble etc in the UK but the industry is all but gone with the Rover/MG going to China.... D'oh.

As for police cars - they have loads of Vauxhalls (GMs) amongst other makes

Noble is owned by Hi-Tech Auto based in South Africa. Hi-Tech is also the owner of Superformance. Not sure if the Noble is made along side the Cobra and Daytona Coupe (as well as one or two more models) in South Africa, but I'm pretty sure it is.

Heck, police ride BMW motorcycles in my area. You would think an oil rich country would put some Crown Vic Police Interceptors with manly V8s on the road like most U.S. police departments. https://www.fleet.ford.com/showroom/...cPoliceInt.asp

It should be our police departments putting Toyota Priuses on the road to help reduce our oil dependance on Arab countries.

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
HK police would love to drive Crown Vic's, (what cop does not have a lead foot?) but there are no parts, and no place to get them repaired in the SAR. The Mercedes G Wagon, on the other hand, can be serviced easily.
