I might merge now.
I wasn't arguing with you, I was just saying that the light housing itself is styled differently, which is the main reason I'm upgrading.

Are you paying attention at all? We were talking about the bottom running lights. At night, the running lights on the S-Class taillights, look the same as the 2001-2004.5 taillights. The difference on the LED versions is the LED's act as running lights and brake lights.

There's no question the design looks different, but NOBODY was talkin' about that.

Actually, I was talking about that...

I said:
I can't wait until I get my new tails, they absolutely change the car.
And then you said:
Look at your running lights now. They will look exactly the same (except for the top LED lights). Thing is, the LED's they use are not very good and won't last very long. Mine lasted me 1 year.
But, this is a pointless argument, if it's even an argument. Let's just forget about it, it'll just ruin this thread if we go on about this.

And by design, I meant the Altezza design...

KevBlah, you say whatever it is you want. I'm just telling you that the bottom running lights, when the sockets are set properly, light up just like the OEM's (only referencing the bottom running lights).

Separately, the TOP LED lights act dually as running lights and brake lights (which I also think is part of the downfall for those lights).

That's all I'm sayin'. But if you're sayin' they light up different...hey, wtf do I know. I haven't done anything for w203 owners anyway...

If you took the time to read through every thing I wrote, never once did I say say ANYTHING about how they light up. I've been talking about the LOOK OF THE HOUSING! I'm not challenging your knowledge of these lights, because you clearly have more knowledge on them. This is all just a big misunderstanding...

On a separate note, if the LEDs double for brakes and running lights...when you brake, will there even be a difference?

Can you replace the LED if it goes out?

That's what I was planning on doing a long time ago, but never got around to it (too much trouble and time).

That's why I'm rollin' with the non-LED versions.

They didn't even have the smoked versions when I first bought mine, so I guess that tells you how long ago I bought my LED versions...

Who knows, maybe they improved the manufacturing of these taillight LED's, but I highly doubt it. Anyways, the regular bulb taillights can actually be made to work similar to the LED taillights, but you have to change the bulbs to 1157 sockets in order to get the dual functionality (i.e. running light/brake light). I don't think it'll look as good as the LED lights, but it's something that can be done with some work.

I'm mainly going to try and replace all the LED's and also get both style running lights to light up like the 2005 OEM taillight (running lights). When I get to it, I'll post up details.

Ohh, so the LED ones do look better? As long as you swap the fog light with the running light?

LED S-Class Tails - Resistors?

Initially, I ordered a pair of non-led s-class tails off ebay, but those backordered. So, I ordered a pair of led tails that should be here any day now. I've searched the forum and read a lot about s-class tails and all there is on it is how to make them light up like oem ones or whatever. I'm not concerned with that so much. My question is: are the led tails simply as plug-and-play as the non-led ones and even the oem ones? Do I need resistors or anything else other than the new tail lights to make them function normally?

You didn't need a new thread for this. It helps keep the search results narrowed down to just post your question in a thread that's already discussing the same product/topic.

LED taillights are plug-and-play exactly like the regular bulb S-Class taillights.

No resistors.

It probably didn't work because I was merging your post with a thread that talks about the S-Class taillights. No need to start a new thread about these things.
