How Exxon-Valdez Occured in My Friends' Garage
A simple task was at hand. Take 2 cars (1996 Honda Civic sedan and 1990 Toyota Corolla) and change their oil themselves because THEY ARE AMERICAN MEN WHO LOVE THEIR CARS!! Heres the stats: 2 hours, 8 quarts of oil, 2 oil filters, 2 strapping young lads. After the first car, 1 Palm sized oil stain, 1 dirty box and plastic liner, 1 jug used oil, and 1 car left. Take 2: 30 mintes, 3 wrenches, and 4 sore arms later the oil plug comes off. 2 spilled makshift oil pans, 1 messed up carpet, no oil left. As bobby fires up the beast we hear Old Faithful erupt under the car. Add to the list 1 oil filter put on improperly (O ring wrenched off) and 3 quarts of oil ON THE FLOOR *SIGH* Back to the store for more oil, replace oil filter while lying in a pool of new and old oil. Lets not even talk about the carpet...but now their skin has an oh-so-healthly gleam to it!!

BTW, I just happen to be a Level V Incident Commander for chem spills. Do y'all need a hand? I could bring my rubber boots and a bag of kitty litter. I'll leave the c coupe at home though, don't want it any where near that garage.

lol....
My sister's husband had a similar experience with their Honda CRX. Stripped the oil pan by overtightening the drain plug. When he started the car to run in the new oil, it popped...he said it sounded like a gunshot. Then there was the time he drained the trans in his Nissan truck...and filled the crankcase with 6 MORE quarts before realizing what he did.
Needless to say, my sister goes to Jiffy Lube now...
