C350 0-60mph

Car and Driver just drove the C350 (6-spd manual) 0-60MPH in 5.5 seconds. Niiiiiiice. I'll be ordering mine later this month.

Thats faster time than MBUSA post data(0-60 in 6.1 ) !!
Kleemann is going to have Kompressor kit for the new V6 24 valve engine(2.5L,3.0L,3.5L in 2006 C Class) in the near future ( spring,2006) .Time to save money now !!

Ya does anyone ever think that MB understates both their 0-60 times and their hp numbers?

By understating hp numbers, I mean the drivetrain loss (rwhp) has a lot lower percentage than most car manufacturers. Is this right?

Yep. The sport chassis is just BEGGING for more horsepower its so competent and yeah, I want more hp. Plus, the sooner I sell the 320 the less money I lose.

Thanks. No one believed me when I said the MB time was too slow, given that the SLK350 is just as heavy. I figured high 5's...but 5.5 is damn fast. Too bad you have order extra doors to get one.

Hey, pukes at MBUSA that supposedly lurk here....where's our C350 Coupes you *******s?

I have a 06' C350 4MATIC... Now I need to save my pennies up for the Kleeman!

Darn you all! <smile> Those Kleeman people are evil, evil, evil.. or as Mike Meyers would say "eeveil"

I am still babying it with less than 1000 miles.

Previews of W204 have not been flattering. Distinctly asian looking, with an ugly interior.

New S Class and new CL are also not that good looking...not hoping for much from the new styling team at MB.

If you've ever taken a look at the MB usa website you might of noticed that all the 65 AMG's have the same 0-60 times. The Cl, the Sl, and the S. Now we all know it's impossible to obtain the same times on cars that weigh differently. But i think my friend and I came up with an explanation for that. First off, i'm pretty sure MB tests their cars with ESP on. They pretty much floor the car from a stop and calculate the 0-60. They don't break torque. Now for a 6 speed manual I believe it's the same story, ESP on, and i doubt they drop the clutch from 3500 rpm! So yes, MB usa numbers are ALWAYS slower than the actual just cause of the way they test them.

Indeed. I did say CL...not CLS. The CLS and the new SLK were largely inked before the "new design language" was issued. I like everything on the CLS except the headlights. Dollars to donuts, the lights were a last minute fuddle from the original design.

MB tests the cars with a full tank of gas and two passengers. And they aren't always slower. The C240 and M271 versions of the C230 were never able to meet the MB times.

That's true too, but what do you think of my theory? This is just an assumption but it makes good sense when you think about it...

I don't quite understand this. Maximum depreciation in the first year for your current car (C320) plus maximum depreciation for your new car (C350) in its first year (made even worse by the new C body the following year) means that you loose much more than hanging on to your current car.

That having been said if you have enough disposable income go for it!!

Or you can get NOW 332 HP and 420 NM from a 4,0L NA kit from Brabus for your C350.

I was at the AMG meet at MBUSA yesterday...

MB tests 0-100kmh (and uses that as our 0-60 #) with a 75 kilo driver, 10 kilo's of luggage and a full tank of gas under not so ideal conditions, I'm pretty sure they leave ESP on and do not break torque. Now if only I weighed 75 kilos, damn physically fit Europeans!!!
