exhaust tip info needed please!
My CDI coupe have 2 curved down exhaust tips but the 05' CDI models have a straigth one like yours C230 sport sedans/coupes have in US.
http://serpentewheel.no.sapo.pt/c220...port_coupe.htm
So, I'm studing the case to see if I could install the straigth exhaust tip in my CDI without changing the all exhaust.
I looked to the EPC and I found a straigth exhaust tip to the petrol engines, but first I need to know the diameter or the pipes on the C230K to see if it will match the ones in my CDI, then I will cut mines at the point of the curve start and install the new tip
Here are the pics of what I found:
(anyone to take a pic for me and to take some measures please?)

In the 230 I don't know how it is, if it looks like the first pic, or if it is a adapted exhaust tip like the one with the 70 and 68 number

this is what I have: (from stock, very uncool thing, all CDI have something like this, except the 05 ones
)
I will cut the pipes maybe where the red line is, before the pipe going down and adapt on it the 230k exhaust tip, now I only need some one to confirm me the pipe measures

the 05 sedan really had two pipes curved down with one big exhaust tip. if you look the exhaust has a center piece that goes straight down the middle, so really there's two exhaust pipes.

Measuring
Wrap a string around the pipe, use a marker to color both ends of the string where they come together. Remove the string and measure the length. You will have the OD of the pipe in question.
Using a pair of calipers you can get the wall thickness. Doing some high school mathematics you then have the OD and the ID of the pipe.

some slow@$$diesels
on a diesel you should really let the pipes point downwards...I experienced what the diesel soot does with the car once the exhaust is no longer bend downwards...

Yeah, I've always thought that Diesel exhausts should point downwards as you do get a lot of soot out of them. Haven't seen any CDI '05 Sport Coupe's yet but have seen the chromed downturned pipes on the W203 & W209.
Incidentally the current BMW 5 Series 520d & 530d have straight Chromed exhaust tails (at least in the UK!)

I see a lot of 05 CDI sport coupes every days (all diesel, I don't see a petrol MB in months), and they look fantastic with the straigth taill pipe
