Cleaning Air Filter on M111

Well I did a search for air filters but only came up with a bunch of threads about wether they should get a K&N or stuff like that.
I'm thinking of cleaning the air filter...do any of you guys do that? Anyways i popped open the hood and I don't really know what to do now. So if any of you guys have cleaned the air filter on your M111 c230's please gimme some feedback and how i would go about on doing this... thx

I've cleaned mine on the V6 engine. Use a high speed leaf blower or compressed air from the side opposite where the crud residue is and it works fine as a temporary fix. Only if the filter is in good shape otherwise, of course.

Audi's, a whole bunch of them
the filter is located under the rectangle box that has the Mercedes Benz logo, there should be about 6 torx's screws holding the top and the bottem...just unscrew those and you can access the air filter...just take it out and shake off the dirt give the filter box a quick wipe as well

Thanks for the replies guys, after a little bit of thought i figured it out myself and as soon as i got all the screws out it was easy sailing from there. I just used compressed air to blow most of the dirt out.
Anyways while i was doing this i checked out the whole airbox set up and it doesn't seem like to great of a set up to me. Have you guys noticed that there are those 2 intake holes? To one, the intake tube is connected to, while the other one is closed with a plastic piece. I was wondering if there would be any advantage to Connecting another tube to that and give the air box to intake holes? I prob won't do this, but just a thought...

I was wondering about this myself too. Why else would they have a second outlet for and intake?

the stock paper filter are supposed to be replaced anyway, but i guess if its still decent and just needs to be cleaned up then it could be good enough. otherwise for around $50 you can get a k&n.
