Could someone please tell me if it is safe to put my child in her car seat in the front of my C 230 Coupe?
The baby seat specifies that it should not be used in a car with airbags, however the Mercedes Benz agents tell me that the child and seat are too light to activate the passenger seat airbags
What I want to know is it safe to rely on the low weight of the child not to activate the airbags and what is the critical weight that activates the passenger seat airbags.
- Is there anyway I can deactivate the passenger seat airbags all together –
Thanking you

if you HAVE to put your baby in the front seat, you HAVE to use a mercedes benz baby smart seat as these seats have a built in proximity sensor that disables the airbags in the right passanger area. The airbag OFF light above your radio should come on as well. However, the optimal place for a infant is the rear seat, middle, facing backwards.

the baby seat should be in the rear always even if the airbag is disabled. i know its a pain when you dont see what you're kid is doing, i know because i drive my babysit my baby niece sometimes, but i would still put her in the rear.
if you want you could buy one of those baby seats that have mirrors on them so you can see the baby.
