I called the dealer and they informed me that the part you gave is the the kit itself, so that's $300. I guess I will deal with the intermittent Please Wait issue.

This happens to me too, the dealer doesnt know what the deal is...It has to be the iPod because we all have it and its happening.

That is correct, however, it is the serial interface that has been "re-vamped" and probably cannot be separated from the kit itself or hasn't been given its own part number. My dealer told me that since it is a warranty issue, they ordered me the "entire kit" with the remade part (the interface) and reinstalled that to address the issue.

So, basically, do not let up with your dealer and demand that the interface be replaced because it is an issue that has been identified by MB and fixed with the new interface kit.

Just wanted to bump this with an update -- I just got my 13k mile service A done on my 06... and while I was there, I mentioned my ipod problems. They confirmed there is a fix for it... and that my interface is faulty. They are ordering me the new ipod kit (entire thing) and will be calling me next week when it comes in. So... I'm looking forward to having a stereo system without the glitches!

Just an update :-)

Alright folks - I got this iPod fix and no longer have my "Audio Please Wait..." problem! The whole stereo now works flawlessly. Here's the fix:

Go into your local MB dealership, tell them you are having the "Audio Please Wait" problem of Bulletin P-B-82.60/457A and that you need the faulty iPod kit replaced - part 6-7-82-4225

This is all warranty of course, and the fix really works! Its nice to have a car with a working stereo system - I was tired of everyone and their mother making fun of Mercedes whenever I would drive people places and the "glitch" would happen.

Similar but different

Hi Everyone,

I have the same problem in that I turn the car off and the radio and everything else was still playing. I "fixed" it by turning the radio off and locking and unlocking the doors.

The next day I notice that my Comand was stuck at the welcome screen. Everything works underneath it but I can't see anything except the welcome screen.

Here's the kicker, I don't have the IPOD integration kit. So what gives?

Well the iPod kit just happened to be a common defective part...

Whenever a portion of the audio system has a fault or sends a wrong code into the fiber optic ring network of the radio system -- it causes everything to lock up like this. Your dealer is most likely going to have to go part by part trying to determine what went wrong...

If one part is acting up, the whole system shows these symptoms.... just happened to be that the first generation iPod kit typically had this glitch.

Hey, I have the same problem that the first poster does but... I don't have the iPod kit at all. It was never installed. Thoughts?
