Can Tele-Aid cars use alternate Services?

For those cars OEM equipped with Tele-Aid transmitter/receiver, has anyone tried subscribing to any service other than MB's? I think MB charges way too much for their service. I would like to shop around (GM's On-Star or other) to see if I can find one more reasonable.

I had the service the first year I owned my car, but discontinued it after because I hardly used it the first year, so couldn't justify the cost. It would be nice to have an emergency-only service in case my cell phone failed.

Any ideas?

I asked about that at the dealer,
and my friend who works at the Parts Dept, said it most likely isn't possible, because Tele-Aid uses a different call system than On-Star / Lojack / etc....

He said though, instead of getting LoJack, to just activate TeleAid in case the car is ever stolen and use it to track the car, just like you would with LoJack. Not too sure if that would work, but might give it a try if that were ever to happen.
