i don't know if u guys have checked out honda or jap car forums yes honda forums

people in there do alot more serious modding and they always help each other out even labor at no cost

i get so much "profit making" impression on this forum

modding cars TO ME should be "fun" and a "learning" experience and it is the only reason i brought up the alternatives of DIY GPS antennas and wiring the command units

I dont imagine you will ever come to Sydney with a diagnostic rig and install for nothing.
i don't need a star diagnostic rig to make a living

Be sure to mention the fact that so many SLK and W203 mods were published by myself, Sunman and Steve. Three people who charge an honest price for honest work.
i thank all of u for making contributions to this forum and the service that u provide to fellow members thats all from me

I agree with everything you have posted. Your points are brief, well writen, and to the point.

I just don't understand why you demean the reputation of crap with that comment. (I lived in India for a year, as a child)

why don't u buy a ford
i drive mercedes because i have more money then the average people

i don't have a command, i am an engineer, and i am sharing my knowledge about how a GPS antenna could be made from coax cables

Heck, show it to Mercedes and maybe they can do some cost cutting themselves
why ? i won't be getting paid for that and microwave antennas is like the oldest thing u will find in text books so please STFU with your smart **** comments.

Wiring may be wiring for you but those MQS pins use on the rear of the comand have taken lots of research to make.
sure we engineers are lazy we take our time, i just don't see how u can back that up

It's people like you that give crap advise and others have to deal with then. I'd hate to see the day a customer knocks on my door with his comand and homemade Coax GPS antenna.
i can see why u r angry, i don't make a living out of command install and star diagnose i am sorry if i have given any advice that could have robbed u and benzmodz for any potential profits.

BTW sunman deleted his post in regards to this response

actually most MBenzNL COMAND installs are FREE or included in the price.

I would gladly pay an additional $300-$500 for OEM MB parts, done according to OEM WIS Retro-Fit instructions, with a real STAR DIAG to properly code and ensure correct operation.

Looks like you bought a Benz as a status symbol (C200 at that), Mr. Engineer.
Why buy a Benz if you can't afford the STAR !!

i've got a conference call at 11:59 Pacific DS Time.
I'll make a point to bring up lowering TAX on luxury cars.... but then again, I don't know if the C-Class qualifies as "luxury", nor do I particularly think he gives a hoot.

coaxial in TAJIKISTAN ?????

you're kidding right ? but i could see how you were confused...
they just use really fine strands of a cows or oxes facial hairs and braid them together, wrap them in cheap Chinese plastic (not German) that would be too luxurious.

That's straight from the TAJIKI CoAxial ACME Co.

On my website I have the WIS for Comand. I removed the pins, got MB pins from the dealer, about a buck each (I know, it's overpriced) and crimped them in with pliers and put them in. The C1 is only needed if you have a CD changer. Also, this is the time to install the AUX-IN. I used a cable I cut off from old cheap headphones, attached the pins to the end of the wires and stuck them in the harness (see the WIS). Then I feed that through the ashtray and plug my iPod Video in there and it works great.

I can understand why it's $300 in Australia, everything is very expensive there compared to the U.S. and employees are treated much better with extra pay whilst on vacation, longer vacations, company cars and such.

Before MBENZNL and Sunman there was only voodo and black magic at the dealerships. You wouldnt know jack if it wasnt for their contribution to the Mercedes community. Try getting a BMW or Lexus modified the same way - there is no Steve in those circles and it is much harder to find anything useful.

Warranty is also considered law in Australia and so is insurance. Those dont come for free last time I looked.

Sure if I could mod cars and just not have to take any future consideration for anything then it would make things a whole lot more simple .... just like you do it.

$300 AUD is only $225 USD for all installation and coding possible. No cutting, the price includes installation of a wiring harness that crosses over the entire width of the car to both door sills. Try it some time .... its a good workout.

Steve's retail price in the EEC for an installed COMAND is the same as mine when you factor in the sales taxes enforced by law. My equivalent USA based price (hypothetical) is the same as Sunman's.

At least I get to work on every Benz sold today. I enjoy what I do.

lol funny u guys try so hard to defend your selfs, but i guess since u are in the business of supplying and installing mercedes parts u have to

Sure if I could mod cars and just not have to take any future consideration for anything then it would make things a whole lot more simple .... just like you do it.
and lets keep it simple, was i talking about drivetrain mods ? engine mods ?
exhaust mods ?

i am not talking about mods that will affect how the car will behave on the road

simply wire to wire connections to the command unit so what more future consideration do u need ? oh i should of used 4 gauge audio grade cables is that what u talking about ?

WIS can be downloaded on-line with bit torrent so i woudln't need people like U to install command

i thank Steve, Sunman and benzmodz for your contributions and services

but i guess all this revolves around the $300 to wire up command,
most car audio specialist charge $99 to wire up head unit amp and subwoofer

anyways good luck with your business

Most people ask me for 100% Benz parts or the deal is off. That is the only type of customer I cater for. The only single item that is non-Benz is the amazing DIVX player hard drive for movie storage and the infra-red network system for sending data to several hidden devices.

Most clients can deal with spending 10% of what their car is worth to have all of the most important things they desire and keep the car longer. There are two kinds of Benz owner in Australia, short term and long term. I plan to keep my W203 till it falls apart so whatever I spend on it I also use and enjoy.

I think it's all about busting myths. I personally dont have any secrets and I dont think that anyone on this forum has ever misled or misinformed anyone on purpose. That suggests we are keeping the standards high and rightly laughing at anyone who makes untrue comments.

I keep a high level of transparency but draw the line at being devalued.

Anyone who owns a Japanese car will know how important mods are. You need at least 10 mods to match the stock levels of performance of a showroom AMG.

People forget what this is all about. Its not just the bragging rights but the right to be proud of the quality of your work whether it is self-installed or professionally installed by a dealership or onsite by someone freelance.

Im not offended and I dont think the forum will ever be place you cant rely on. Lets be clear about cyberspace and real life. Anything I publish in cyberspace here is at your own risk and anything I do in person is at considerable risk to my corporation. That is the essential nature of running a business in Australia. Plain and simple.

OH MY GOD..SERIOUSLY GUYS RELAX!

I completely understand all views.

KINGKONG - i thank you for understanding my point of view, and going into bat for me.

MIRO - we have our differences, eitherway no harm done! Just to clear a few things up though. In reference to me asking you for your business details over the phone. i believe that was a justifyed question. I didnt know you had a proper business etc, i though you were a uni student making a few bucks on the side (ie: One of our initial contacts was via yous university email address).

You said Steve had to wait for you because of me...i think hes capable of doing things himself. No offence.

Finally i have discussed with Steve about potentially meeting him and we came to an agreement, of which he knows about.

SUNIL - As always your points are valid, and knowledge is great oh wise one

BUELLWINKLE - Thanks for your input, i have viewed your site several times! Brilliant information.

SAPRISSA - During your conference call, can you please tell Bush boy to tell a FUNNY joke that makes at least a bit of sence when he begins a Speech...Hes But funny as hell!

So i guess thats about all. Now Moderators, freekin shut this thread down, i received all the info i need and then some...

John, since you already have a comand with a/v adapter, you can buy a harddrive equipped DIVX player. These are available on the bay. You can add whatever size drive you want to them and use a DIVX encoder to compress your DVD movies to DIVX format. This will allow you to store them on the DIVX player and you can use this to view them on your comand.
