How long for CEL to auto-reset?

How long for CEL to auto-reset?
I messed up (and fixed) my gas cap, documented here: gas cap thread, and two weeks later, CEL was still on. I was starting to think maybe something ELSE was wrong, so I had the codes read, and it was, as originally expected, P0457 Evap Emission Sys, Leak Detected Fuel Cap. How much longer before the CEL would have reset itself?

40 restarts! mine was the next time. though i pull over as soon as i saw it display in the MFD. the cap came loose while i was driving. the notches got all out of wack. i did have to get a new gas cap though.

I saw mine in MFD for a day and a half before I had a chance to STFF and then fix the gas cap (5 minutes, 1 screwdriver, 1 needlenose pliers). The CEL didn't come on until late the second day. In the 2 weeks + it was on, I must've started the car, like, 39 times before I got tired of waiting for the reset!
