my 2001 C270CDI - step I
I started working on the car yesterday and will probably be working on it for at least another 2 weeks (spare time is scarce)...still have to remove some more parts...
My biggest dissapointment with this car is that it freaking rusts at several places...quite severely! My 1993 620.000km old C250D rusts a lot less...
MB Netherlands doesn't do anything about it...MB Germany is willing to take care of it - but I am not sure wether I want that...
Anyways - it will take a while before I will be finished, so - for those who are interested in the outcome - stay tuned...the car is not going to be mostified btw - I am not interested in that (yet?).
greetingz,

do you have any planned mods for the car?
i never looked into a "stripped" w203... looks cool lol
seeing threads like this make me understand i do have huge amounts of things to learn about cars...
about the rust, i already noticed that ... my coupe is quite rusty as well

a big hug and... good luck with all the modifying !

that steering wheel of brabus you're buying is for this van?
big hug...

Hopefully you can sell more easelly your used parts and get updated ones cheaper, you luck guy :p

Look what is missing from your interior! Everything! Bumpers too!
Joking aside, I'll bet that will be the finest S203 on the continent when you are through. Is the rust along the bottom of the rear door sill what you are concerned about? Does MB in Europe have a rust warranty? You can avoid that rust problem in the future if you move to Southern California. In the winter if you want to see snow, you must open the freezer.
The amount of rust on this car is just shocking (considering the age and mileage)...I might actually be getting a new "trunklid" from MB germany though...

So no, I am not the one who will be helping Steve to tear the car apart and put it back together again. For which I am grateful!!! I know where the ignition is, and that's where my technical knowledge ends.

BTW, I have a pretty good idea as well about what Steve is up to for 'round 1'. :p Cleaning it inside and out is priority number 1...

Steve is like the Post man who Enjoys a long walk on his day off
Modding his car between trips around the globe
My Wagon Looked like that......So Did The Wifes W211..Gutted then Modded!

I think some of those parts just turned up on eBay. Im bidding on the steering wheel.
Great photos. Could you also take some photos, ar at least describe the rusted areas? Is this a problem on all W203's, or is it just the wagons? Was the vehicle poorly maintained by the previous owner? Obviously some of us are concerned.
The car was maintained properly - only 100k kilometer and in good condition.
will upload some rust pictures later
The car is even more apart at this moment then it was on the above pictures...still not quite there...
greetingz,

I Know of at least One Wagon owner that did that and the doors rusted out at 30k...lol
Even MORE apart?....Soooo Did You remove the Engine/trans?
