Talking Hey guys!first post!

hey everybody whats up?first time here id like to intro myself.im Josh im 20 years old from northern california. You might notice my name and wonder why im posting here. I own/obsess over a frickin gorgeous 1999 Pontiac Trans Am.The best car ever produced. With just a few parts it has over 400hp and one of the most aggressive looks on the road.It also has 120,000 miles and is in perfect perfect condition. This cars a trooper i drive the crap out of it,race it at least twice a day and it runs flawlessly and always has.Due to weird situations, which ill elaborate on if asked, i have owned 5 firebirds.Im getting ready to buy another car and i was thinking about the bew z06.But its basically the same car i have now. So i started looking at a gas saver with a sporty edge. The first car that caught my eye was an impressive looking 2005(i think) silver c230 sedan kompressor.I looked at audis bmw 760s(lost track of my gas saver goal with that one)and a few jags. But nothing compared to the sporty compact look of not only the body but the interior of the c230.Now im looking further into owning one.I was, however, pretty dissapointed to learn the supercharged 2.3 litre has a not so whopping 189 horsies? Is that correct?I know gm claims a 1999 trans am has 305 but mine dynoed at 342 and that was after 100,000 miles. My assumption from a $32,000 german engineered supercharged premium sedan was at least 250.But at the same time theyre smaller cars with a nimble stance. So clear it up for me!Is 189 correct?if not, what is?if yes, whats it feel like in this car? im a big tuner so is there much of an aftermarket for a c230?like TASTEFUL body kits?grills? I am in love with hamann pg3s which im putting on my trans am so i dont need to see rims those'll go on my mbc230 as well!pics are appreciated and ill talk to you all soon!

Welcome to the forum.

There are lots of Stickys on top that will answer a lot of your questions. After that the search and its advance feature will provide answers to a few more, regardless of topic. What is left is usually answered if you can wait patiently.

Dood you are looking at the wrong car if you want enginge tunablility and high HP. Go w/a C55 and add a blower to it and you will definitely be pushing major 400++++ HP. Just being realistic. Mercedes has the worst mod support when compared to BMW and Audi.

Welcome to the board!

If you want a "gas-saver" w/ a little bit of stock power, the 2005 230 K SS is a very good choice. It's underpowered and not a lot of modding upgrades, but the gas mileage is great for the amount of power it puts out! Just as an FYI, the 2003-2005 C230 Kompressors (coupes and sedans) are 1.8 liter engines (M271 engine classification). The 2001-2002 230 Kompressor coupes (no sedans at that time) are the 2.3 (M111 engine).

Both engines are supercharged I4's, but the M111 engine was carried over from the w202 C Class 230 Kompressor(1999-2000). The M111 has more mod potential and carries a little more torque. The M271 was obviously designed to lessen the sound of the engine (for luxury purposes), while at the same time keeping the power in the same range.

Ditto. If you are looking to mod this car and be happy with your gains compared to the car you currently have...save your money.

welcome, for daily driver the C230k will do just fine. If you are looking for a 2006 , it is now a C230 with a 2.5 V6 instead of the 1.8 supercharged i-4.

welcome to the forum! IMO, the C230k looks great, but that's where it ends. performance is weak (and i have the 6spd manual) and handling is sloppy. if your looking for a sporty looking car with a very soft, luxurious drive, the benz is for you. if you want a car that is more sporty, handles great and has decent performance, try the new BMW 325. if you want a great handling car that has surprisingly impressive performance, take a look at a used 330 coupe or sedan. by far the most fun car i've owned. never felt so connected to the road and had such response. i've done things in that car that would have killed me in others (not that i'm proud of that). at your age however, i think a bmw is more what you want. i feel as though i've aged 20 years driving the benz. but i must admit, it's a hot looking car, but looks more fun than it is to drive. good luck with your decision and let us know what you decide

I don't get it...you're cross shopping a C230, a Z06, and a BMW 760? What in the heck are you looking for exactly? These are three totally different cars at totally different price points.

I was going to say this is probably another C230_617 troll but it seems like almost all the newbies are starting to post the way he did...
