Yes they are not the same, the 05 sport brakes are actally slightly smaller than the C32 brakes, well at least the rotors are and plus the Calipers are different as well.

Does anyone know if Porterfield came out with the dustless brake pads for 05 C230 yet? I remember they didn't have them yet and were looking into producing them soon.

The OEM pads are just.....

You guys realize that the E46 M3 has 12.8" ventilated (non cross-drilled) rotors with SINGLE piston floating calipers up front and 12.9" rotors in the back also with single piston floating calipers!?! Compared to the BMW guys, it's like all the Sport Sedans come with a factory BBK!

I didn't read the whole thread, so excuse this post if it's a repeat:

Front OEM Brake pads are about $73 for the set. Front rotors are about $65 each. Add in 2 packets of anti squeal paste for about $2 each, and 2 sensors for $9 each (you may not need the sensors if the current ones are still good), and you're looking at about $225 in parts for the whole job. If you're getting quoted $300, that sounds like a pretty good deal (just make sure it includes "new" rotors). To change the front pads yourself, should only take about 30 - 45 minutes. Not sure how much longer when you add in the rotors (I've never done the rotors).

One thing to note: Because rotors are an inexpensive part for these cars, the dealers will not resurface them. Also, they may recommend replacing them when really, you'd be fine with just replacing the pads. Of course, always make sure it's not warped.

Breakes

Is it normal for the Brake pads to generate so much black powder? What kind of pads are available, are metallic better?

I don't know what kind of pads I have, I'm only asking because I will be replacing my stock 16" rims with 18" and maybe I'll do the brakes while I'm at it.
