'04 Axel width vs '05

When MB launched the 05 C models announced that front and rear axels where widther than the previous model, is this true, or just different offset wheel???

And supension height??? (somedays ago I parked alongside a 05 coupe and manged to align my car with that and amazingly my car was heigher 0,4-0,78 inches than the 05!!! both cars had the same wheels and tires and same C7 pack!)
What about the sedan?

Why would they change the axle size on the same chassis? How does that make sense for production?

Better stability...
If so, why they changed the wheel offset in the normal sedan also and normal coupe to wider wheels at the back!?
Could be only the wheels and a marketing solution!
I remenber reading that "wider axel" in some catalogue... (only if I could find it!)
MB UK: "newly developed geometry for the front and rear axles"
http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/cont...fety.0003.html
"We’ve achieved this by thickening the torsion bars and redesigning the front torque strut mount and the rear spring link mount"

Did you noticed any diference in ride height from 04 models to 05???

For the 2005 info, I got it from the C-class Sport brochure.
For the 2003 info, I got that from the MBUSA.com CPO websiste. They list all that data.

I have no Idea if it is just the wheels or not. From what I understand, they only changed the width of the rear wheels, not the front, but it lists the fronts track is wider too.

The Coupe is about 1/10th of an inch narrower in the front and the rear is the same. (At least for the 2005).

Front Track: 1493mm
Rear Track: 1464mm

2005
Front Track: 1493mm
Rear Track: 1464mm

Anyone knows what could make this differences, any new parts or only the wheels???
I don't think so, at the front they got the same wheels but the new car is wider!!!

and I interesting thing, the new coupe is heigher than the old one!!!
2003
1379mm
2005
1406mm
