Toasted Pads, and Rotors!

Well, my service brake soon light came on, so I took my car into my friends shop. My front rotors were completely burned (glazed) and my front pads we're in need of changing. Guess all my hard driving finally took it's toll on my brakes! hehe.

Anyway, i never realized how freakin expensive ROTORS are for our cars.. JESUS! I tried to have them resurfaced, but their just isn't any room left for resurfacing.

Anyway, i thought i'd share!

Damn... already need brakes? My sensor hasn't gone off yet, and I've got an '03 with over 40k miles... I don't drive like a grandma either - I go through a set of tires every year.

How much are they charging you for rotors?

you can prob get free rotors saying it is a warranty issue because they are supposed to last a lot longer

Rotors for my C320 were only $45 each, and pads were around $60. Of course, I've got the smaller rotors.

I know the C32 calipers are different, but will the C32 rotors work on the '05 with stock calipers?

I suppose it comes down to the dimmensions (which I don't have)... anyone know?

Well over all it cost me $600!!!!!!! How freakin ridiculous.

I changed the front rotors, $125 each. Pads all the way around, resurfaced the rear rotors + Labor.

We need a cheap aftermarket alternative!!!

Damn, that sucks man!

$125 for the front rotors? ****! Hmm... Hopefully by the time mine are done there will be an aftermarket alternative.

****, Porterfield didn't even have their pads available for our cars yet...

Also, I didn't think you could resurface the rear rotors. Would you have been able to get one of the cross drilled rotors that we see all the time on eBay for the rear?

hey, you're selling your C320? I just noticed that it's "soon to be gone" how sad! (mileage / asking price? )

Yup. It's got 40,500 on it, the 4 year warranty is up at the end of December (which is why I'm getting rid of it). I have a sale agreement on it already. It will probably be gone by Christmas. The W211 is just sitting in the garage collecting dust until then.

Back on topic: There are aftermarket rear rotors that will fit your car. Not sure what you paid for resurfacing, but the rotors are not that expensive (I'm thinking 60-75 if memory serves). I don't remember seeing any non-OEM rotors for the front though.
