I've got about 490 miles on my car and was planning on taking a trip 400 miles round trip...should I drive? I know about the opinions regarding break-in periods but I'm hoping that as long as I vary my driving speed (not being excessive) that I should be okay? Any opinions would be appreciated...TIA!

You should be fine. Just don't floor it, and vary speed, don't stay in the same gear too long. Some advise not going over 4000 RPM, but I haven't seen any reasoning for that. There should be nothing wrong with revving it higher, so long as you don't floor it.

Thanks for the reply Vadim....I've got an automatic so I'll just have to keep varying speeds on the highway..I''m headed to doverdown, DE from Fairfax. Thanks again.

I picked up my C320 (auto) brand new in St.Louis, MO, and within a day had driven it 800 miles, including the 650 mi from St. Louis to my home in Dallas, TX. I drove at 75 mph, with cruise control on the entire trip.
I now have 11,000 miles on the car. It gets 24 mpg on my commute to work every day, and hasn't used a drop of oil through its first "A" service. BL: As long as you don't abuse it, you will be just fine.

Thanks for the replies
Thanks everyone for the replies. I just wanted a good sample of real MB'ers to chime in on this topic vs. the sales guy at the dealership.
Fuzzo's goin' with so you'll have two opinions about the ride. I'll be sure to let everyone know. Thanks again!
