Ipod Vidoe and background static

Well I found out what was causing the hissing sound with my ipod. I noticed that at first when the car was started the hissing was not there, even though I had the ipod already plugged in. This led me to think that maybe the ipod was trying to do 2 things at once and that maybe that was the background static i was getting. I do have the new ipod video, so I thought let me play around with it and see. Well when I touched the iopd and the backlight came on, guess what NO background STATIC SO I was like ahh ok, for some reason with my ipod, having the background light off creates some kind of feedback that causes background static when the ipod is playing. Well I set my ipod to have the backlight stay on continuously, and the noise is all gone, problem solved!

Sunman thinks that maybe the MB/ipod folks didn't test the new ipod video's with the kit, and that maybe that's why I was getting static in the background with the backlight off, Oh well, as long as the static is gone, I am happy!

I have a nano and I used to use it just straight into my AUX Input with no static and no problems except it wasn't as loud as I liked...

I got the Belkin Auto Kit (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_ID=193794) and it's louder and a good part of the time it sounds better but it has that annoying static!

try turning the setting for the backlight on the nano display screen to on all the time, and see if that helps

Is there any other way? I don't really want to keep the light on all the time and drain the heck out of my battery since I don't have a car charger.

how does yours play in your car? over the aux (aux cable only) ipod kit, or an fm transmitter?

i think you will always have a bit of background noise with an FM transmitter. The only way to get quieter is to go through the aux line.

man I was hoping that leaving the backlight on would help ya. Sorry, I don't know what to tell ya. See if you can find any time that the static is not there. That's what I did, and I noticed that there were certain times when it wasn't there, like when the ipod first started up. I thought that's crazy, you would think the noise would be there as soon as the ipod starts, but not true for me. Then I began to play around and that's how I found that the screen on mine was causing the feedback noise. Could be your cd changer causing the noise, or disc on your command also.

I use a monster ipod tape adapter and i get no static and i can turn it up loud.It only costs about 20 bucks. praise the Lord. I can worship Jesus loud. On;y thing the wire has to go in the corner of tape deck. and the deck has to be closed to play. I have tried fm transmitters and there no good. I have video ipod. I do wont to get a kit but I have a 2004.

PS you have to pull wire a bit to eject tape and it has to be on side 2 but it doesnt hurt it

Ipods aren't the only device that have the static issue while on the charger. I, too, have the same issue when I have my Ipaq plugged in. For those of you who use the 3.5mm AUX input, you can try putting the AUX cable half way in, as opposed to completely pushed in, to see if it eliminates the static while charging.
