C-Klasse DTM !!

I think the C-klasse DTM is so damn under-rated. No one ever talks about that car. I think its beautiful !

Please share some of your favorite DTM pics !!

I noticed that the C klasse DTM has LED tail-lights ! Do you think MB made these just for the DTM division? I wonder how much they cost as oppose to the ebay knock offs

Enjoy ! Mods dont close my thread or move it.

EVERYTHING on those DTM cars are just made for the DTM devision...it is just a racecar that looks like a C-class...besides looking like a C-class there is nothing that the DTM car has in common with the actual C-class.

Made by H.W.A. GmbH.?

"...is one of the most successful touring car racing teams, and is also responsible for assembly and operation of the current C-Class DTM cars."

I think that they are about as "stock" as the Nascar cars. Ground-up purpose-built racecar.

BTW I think that they'll take the championship this year...wishful thinking?

Uhhh.....I hope you guys know that Gary Paffett won the 2005 DTM championship in his Mercedes C-class DTM car. Accordingly, Mercedes Benz won the team and manufacturer's championship as well over Audi.

For those interested, I've posted the DTM technical regulations below. You will see that the roof comes from our standard production C-class!!

"Philosopy: The DTM aims to deliver spectacular, but at the same time cost-conscious touring car sport. Numerous components such as the gearbox, prop-shaft, engine electronics, rear wing and carbon-fibre brakes are identical and stipulated by the regulations to be used by all manufacturers. A DTM engine must last an entire race season.

Cars: A DTM car is a no-compromise touring car with the silhouette of a four-door production car designed specifically for motorsport and is constructed around a steel space frame. The bodywork is manufactured from composite plastic. The steel roof originates from the production line. Rear wheel drive is mandatory, and electronic driver aids such as ABS or traction control are forbidden.

Engines: Only V8 engines with a cylinder bank angle of 90 degrees and a maximum displacement of four litres and a maximum of four valves per cylinder are permitted in the DTM. The induction system must be fitted with two air restrictors each of a maximum 28 mm diameter.

Gearbox: Only two different gearbox-differential units, supplied by either X-trac or Hewland, are authorised in the DTM.

Tyres: The tyres are supplied exclusively by Dunlop. There is one slick and one rain tyre version.

Brakes: The carbon fibre brakes discs, brake pads and calipers are also supplied by a single manufacturer to all teams.

Aerodynamics: The aerodynamic configuration for all cars of a single manufacturer must be determined no later than eight days before the start of the season and may not be changed during the season.

Weight: The minimum weight of a DTM car with the 2005 aerodynamic configuration including the driver, overall and helmet is 1050 kilograms. Cars with the 2004 aerodynamic configuration may weigh 15 kilograms less (1035 kilograms).

Electronic: All cars work with a common control unit supplied by Bosch. Data transmission (telemetry) is forbidden when the vehicle is in motion.

Saftey: The driver is surrounded by a carbon-fibre safety cell in the ****pit. Furthermore, every car is fitted with crash structures in the area of the front and rear bodywork sections."

DTM getting more outrageous with the body cladding every year...my favorite still is the W202 DTM with D2 paint.

It would be nice if we could get those sick looking BIX's for our C-Class.

But other than that, did anyone catch the DTM race I believe it was during the beginning of this week on Speed Channel. They had this MB DTM car and showed the story of this F1 racer who left the scene and joined MB's DTM racing and stuff. Forgot his name but he was a really famous guy who won many championships.

no - those are just 203 lenses with a circuit board on the inside - the total light assembly is not much thicker as the lens itself...not anywhere close to what the actual C-class lokks like.

Those are halogen headlights and they don't even look close to anything that fits the production C-classes.

The pictures I attached are of a 2002 W209 CLK DTM that I took in the pittbox before the last race of that season...it pretty much shows how much CLK there is to be found in that "CLK".
