2002 C230 Coupe(M111)
The M271 guys are having a little bit harder time. Its just a slip in baffle on the older M111. The sound is fun for a few days. It sounds faster, and SLK owners report it adds a few ponies.

Well, after further reading it looks like us M271 guys cant do this mod, due to the baffle leaving a Square hole in the intake path to the supercharger hence creating bad flow.
But apprently there are a couple of other obstructions in the air way that they noticed. Nothing has been done to take care of the obstructions yet.

so as to clear something up once and for all- (i'm a newbie to MB's- a nissan veteran )
i've got a 02 c230 coupe Kompressor. i have the M111 engine, correct? and its displacement is 2.3L, yes? i hear 1.8, 2.3, M271, M111, i'm confused. haha.
nissan kept it simple- VG30ET V- engine type G-Series 30- 3.0L E- electronic fuel injection T-Turbocharged induction.

anyone know if there was conclusion to this, if us M271ers with teh 05 SS could remove the resonators?
i would love to hear my cars whine opposed to my 1 year old in the back...

uh not really, I own both and the 2.3 sounds like a rattle trap under acceleration, it gets worse gas millage and has had more problems(cam shaft position sensors) than my 03 m271 coupe. The M271 noticeably sounds better even with the supercharger resonator you can hear the whine over the exhaust. Also the M271 with the 6 speed manual smokes the 2.3 with automatic transmission. Not even close! If you want start messing with the way mercedes-benz engineered these cars and add an over sized crank pulley then yes the 2.3 is better for modding that one particular thing, but besides that one advantage and a few horses the m271 is an overall upgrade in my opinion.
