Thumbs up 1800 km on two tanks of petrol

Recently I was required to make a road trip from Sydney to Melbourne. The total fuel consumption on my car was 7.1 and 7.2 litres per 100km in both directions.

This means I was able to travel from city to city on an average of 98km/h on a 110km/h maximum speed over 880 km driving distance in one direction.

Left me enough petrol to travel to another city 50km away on my return. My car has a full service history and currently has 80,000km travelled. The fuel economy on my M111 2.0 litre engine is quite amazing.

My Benz does nothing but amaze me each year more and more.

www.convert-me.com (to help my fellow americans understand better).
But lemme do the dirty work for you.
7.1 litres = 1.876 gallons
100 km = 62.14
mpg = 33.1

I got 31-32 mpg as well (13.6 km/l) on the E320 CDI I got for a loaner. Mostly on highway, 55-60 mph.
