Rev limiter question?

Hi guy's. I had to merge in to some heavy traffic, i was in 3rd gear and didn't realize that i had the car's RPM at 6500 (maybe more).

My question is that when does the speed limiter kicks in?On my Mustang GT soon as you got over 6000rpm the gas would shut off. Why didn't the gas shut off on the c230 over 6500rpm? Thanks..

do you have the 6 speed? the engine/gas shutoff for keeping your engine in the red wont actually cut the throttle until your car is actually in danger (ie temp hits whatever the qualifying mark is). if you havent been in it for too long then it'll stay in the red.

Hey dswildfire, I do have the 6spd. The RPM gauge is toooo small for me to pay attention some times when merging in to heavy traffic, so i find my self in the RED ZONE too often. They should have put a bigger RPM gauge on this car so your eye could cath the Neddle.

yeah i agree, with a digital speed readout on the lcd, the tach should be made more prominent

Just buy the digital tach/speed readout system found in most ricers. That may solve your problem.
