coupe headroom?

Hi

Do coupe owners have any problems with headroom for the driver?

I'm 6' 2" and I took a coupe evo pan out for a test drive last Saturday. Suspension was quite firm and when I went over a few road bumps, I bashed my head against the corner pillar!

I know there is a height adjuster. But have any of you tall guys experienced problems?

I'm 6'3" and the Coupe has the best headroom of any car I've ever owned. I don't have the sunroof but there must be about 5-6 inches from the top of my head to the roof (the pana would only take out about 1-2 inches of this room). I have also never hit my head on the B-pillar, either.

This is with the height adjuster all the way down. I'd suggest another test drive with the seat down. Most people who ride in the car are amazed at the amount of headroom it has, maybe because it looks smallish from the outside.

Cheers, BT

I’m 6’4” and have plenty of room in the Coupe. I adjust the seat all the way down and back to fit my needs, quite well. I am a long time BMW owner and moved to the MB C coupe as the new 3 and 5 series cars could not accommodate my size, the head room was to limiting. Note: I choose not to get the Panoramic roof (Which I loved and wished it worked for my height ) as it began to cut into the head room by a few inches directly over my head. I wear hats all the time in the car with no problem, but that was not possible on the Sun roofed demo I tested.

I'm 5'4" and with the seat ALL the way up I still can't touch the roof. I sure can chew on the steering wheel though.

Thumbs up

My head was hitting the handle that was afixed
on the drivers side roof area above the door. I mean why would the driver need one, his hands are on the wheel!
So I had it taken out.
I put the seat all the way down. The headroom is adequate. I'm 6'2 .

I think the handle is intended for the rear seat passengers.

The handle is for getting in and out of the car too, not just to hold on to in the twisties.

Wow, you must have a long inseam. I am only 5' 11" and I have about 1-2 inches of headroom with the seat all the way down. On the other hand, I only have a 30" inseam, and I sit as tall as a few 6' 4" people that I know.

I am 6'4" with the panorama roof and I have no problems. I can't even imagine banging my head into the flip-out handle. You must be doing some of that new-age style head-bang dancing.. silly kids!

My inseam is 35" - I also recline the seat somewhat because I have long arms as well.

The correct distance for setting the seat back is to sit as far back so that your wrists rest on top of the steering wheel. This is what an instrucutor will tell you at a driving school - apparantly it gives the best leverage for operating the steering wheel.

Cheers. BT
