2005 C230 SS
hmm, i did a search on the autozone web site for a 2005 c230 and still it shows the $24.99 price for each pad, it doesnt show rotors though. and a bunch of other parts that are recomended when changing are not aviable. hmm....here is the link hope it shows up http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBr...ction=loadPage

this would be great news, i just took in my car to replace the front pads, dealer charged me $288+tax.

Talking Autozone Pads

I've had the 2 front pads from Autozone for a year now. There is a big difference in brake dust and price compared to the dealership. To be honest I can't tell the difference and I drive down canyons going and coming from work.
Here's the info:
DURALAST
SEMI-METALLIC MKD872 LLT $24.99

I've also replaced my OEM battery with a Kragen Auto parts "AUTOLITE" battery since i didn't want to call roadside assistance. The cost was $89.00, plus $8.00 core, return the core and it's $8.00 less.

Here's the info for that:

Exide Battery: Autolite®; 84 Month; L:14 7/8" W:6 7/8" H:7 9/16" Autolite Battery: Group 49, 850 Cold Cranking Amps, 1000 Cranking Amps, 120 Minutes Reserve
Warranty: 84 Month Limited Warranty

Enjoy!

Is @ Home
i have them on my integra and so far no problem. i don't drive my car hard so it basically feels stock to me. its just time consuming (as mentioned earlier) of how since my integra doesn't have a pad indicator its hard to find out exactly when to change them. i would say make friends with someone who works there so they're not too **** abuot the pad thickness

After reading the posts, I am thinking of getting the front pad from Autozone. My warning light came on.

Did you also purchase sensor from Autozone?

This is my first brake job on my 03 C230 sedan.

Thanks.

I was looking on the website and I was wondering if anyone knew what the difference between duralast and duralast gold is (both are semi-metallic).

Just wanted to give a little input into this post.

I've been the first from PorterFields to use their product that they were testing on my car because they needed a car for creating these brake pads for an 05 C230SS with the big brake kit. I had to drill my own holes for the sensor and such.

Anyway, I've driven about 500+ miles on them and really like the brakedust versus OEM BUT noticed I had to press a little harder to stop than the OEM. Also I have found sqeaking from the pads during summer. They are much more expensive and don't recommend it to anyone.

I'm going to try the Autozone brand that you guys recommend and see if its any better.

Thanks for tell us about it!!!

2002 C320 Sedan Magma Red
Brake Pads Signal

Does anyone know where I can buy a genuine front & rear MB brake pads? The dealer is charging me too much. They said that for the front alone, it would cost me $250 and the rear for another $250, and that's not including the labor. The labor is going to be $109 for an hour, so it depends on how long they can install the brake pads plus the parts amount.
1. Where can I get a cheaper MB brake pads, or does it have to be MB also? If it's aftermarket, what is the best one out there?
2. Can I have someone else install it, other than the dealer? Or does it have to be an MB dealer? Do MB C320's require special installation than other cars like Honda, Toyota, etc?

Please help!!!!! I need advice on where I can buy a cheaper one. Thank you very much....

Sorry to bump this old thread.

How do you guys finding these Autozone pads? I have heard several good feedbacks. But I am curious about the comparison with OEM pads.

Ps: C230RedK if you are still active in this forum, who did your pads? Do you have any recommended shops around central IL?

BUMP!

sorry had to revive this old thread. But something weird is happeneing. My breake light came on, but its only been 12k miles since my last brake job was done! and it was done at the dealership...from reading various post it seems that OEM brakes are lasting about 25k. could it be a bad sensor? or 'dumb' car computer? weird thing is that the light would come on like once every other day, not constanly like when i got my first brake job done at the dealership. It came on today while driving, but not yesterday. Reason i came to this thread is because i wanna do my own brakes, i think the dealership charges WAAAy too much. But i was looking at the autozone brakes and I did a search for the 2005 c230, but the results say:
Application:
Except Sports model

uhm...arent ALL 2005 c230's in america Sports Models?? Just wanna know if anyone actually INSTALLED or is using the autozone brakes on their 2005+ w203.

Thanks

Total brake revamp on a budget

I'm new here and about to do my own brake job on my 07 C230 Sport. Got the light signal the other day. My car only has 28k miles but I guess that's typical after reading a few threads on here.

I have ordered all four rotors, all slotted and cross drilled with low dust metalic pads from ECO Brakes for under $250. and they're US manufactured. Look good and reading through comments from other purchasers on eBay they all seem happy with the product.

Ordered sensors elsewhere for $11. each with the shipping.

Hoping these are quality components and will outlast OEM. I can't see how MB OEM brakes have such little lifespan. I figure starting over can't be worse than the original and it's pretty cheap experament to find out. I can do all of it for less than the cost of MB front brake job with simple resurface. Will advise how this project turns out when I'm done.

fyi, I used these because I've had good experience with AC Delco. About 6,000 miles so far, low dust, no noise. $59 for the fronts and $49 for the rears.

Actually the MB OEM materials are top notch. Very, very good quality and performance. Performance brakes wear out quicker.

+1,

The sideeffect on having performance brakes are that they produce more dust, and wear out faster. But that's because they are a softer compound and grip better. Safety or cost?

any metallic brake does have a tendenciy to squeak when extremely heated. Do they have a ceramic version of the life time warranty?

I change my brakes on c230 sport 07. It took me from start to finish 1 hour 15 min.I bought the pads at autozone front and rear for 85 $ .Duralast gold .You don't have to remove the calipers.Push the spring and slide the pins out .Take a midium c-clamp with old pads still on slowly close the piston.Just that simple if you have a little machanical skill.Save myself $400.00

Yes, your car has 1 sensor front (passenger side) and 1 sensor rear (passenger side). If you don't get the brake wear message that means that your sensor hasn't popped so you can still reuse them.

Sensor are 5 bucks. Recently I ordered Jurid pads (oe) from rmeuropean.com and they came with sensors (fronts only but came with 2 sensors). Rears did not come with sensors. I know Akebonos also come with sensors as well (atleast they do with Rmeuropean).
