C230 Coupe
I am very interested, but I have a couple quick questions, I am ver non-technical so please dont think Im dumb. Does this intake have anything to do with the intercooler? I ask because Buellwinkle said something about sticking to his ITG filter, does this CAI do something to the intercooler?? Also should it void any kind of warranty?

The intake kit installation doesn't need to do anything with the intercooler.
But it actually makes the whole system works better. At the beginnig, we realized that the stock air box is the most simplest way of a CAI in the coupe, but because of the room between the cooling fan and the engine is too tight, the air box is small and tight inside.
It might be just enough for the stock engine, but if you start to put some mod on it, the result of other mods like pulley, exhaust...etc, will be restricted by the factory air box.
Also, the factory intake runner(a box located at the top of the supercharger) is a further sound reduction element from the MB.
It is very restrictive and will combine the hot air coming out from the bleed off valve with the fresh air coming in from the intake air box. This causes the supercharger run super hot especially in heavy traffic (stop and go situation). The intake kit that we are working on right now will solve these problem. It can lower the air temperature going in the intercooler, so the air coming out from the intercooler will decrease...
About the issue of going back to the dealer, we recommand you to put the stock system back, it is easy to do which usually cause about 1/2 hour(in your garage), this is the best way to avoid any trouble from the dealer.

The intake system will come with a cone type air-filter, it mount in the right side bumper behind the factory fog light, that's why it called a CAI. The system will replace the original air box, so you don't need another filter for the air box.
For the price, we are still working hard to bring it down.
We are now in testing stage, more performance result will be up soon, pictures will be avilable in one or two weeks. Please fell free to ask any question or your opinion, keep updating this forum.:p
In my opinion, a ITG filter is not a bad choice for its price if the car is remain in stock form, but if you start to put mods on it like pulley, chips, exhaust, supercharger kit...etc, the factory air box and the filter will max out easily, i though the air box has just enough flow for a 190 houses engine.

So the CAI will bypass the airbox and the old intake port completely, that much is understood. Is there any recommendations on what to do with the space saved by removing the stock airbox? Or will the airbox remain there? Or will the CAI go through that space?
Also, what kind of colors/finishes are you planning on including for the CAI? I'd like to have a red that matches the 2.3L engine cover or a brushed aluminum finish to match the silver exterior.
Looks like this is gonna turn out great!

For all the people asking if u can use this with the stock air box or with a ITG filter. This is no different from any car with a CAI they all replace the stock air box there for u do not need a ITG filter to stick in a air box that wont even be connected to your car.
I have my ITG filter ordered but if i like the CAI, i guess i will just take a loss.
Also ky230 can u please give me a ball park price like are u looking at it to be from $100.00 to $200.00 or like $250.00 and up???

10 years later... Is it done yet? Don't expect anyone to reply but Have a custom cylnder K&N and it falls into the motor all the time. Its such a ***** and I need a better system. i wish spectre would come out with something similar to the K&N i have ru-3840so i could run a duct into the inlet. I need to figure out a way to half enclose the k&N via a heat shield. i did this before with aluminum and sprayed it with anti heat paint. I made cut the stock tube that went into the box and made a little duct. This duct was connected with aluminum tape.
Even if i duct it towards the filter, it still is not as efficient as the spectre inlet filters would be. I wish people didnt give up on this.

Thanks for the advice. Ill look into getting it heat wrapped. As for the position, if i move it away from the engine it won't let the hood close. I might extend the pipe and have the filter by the foglight like OP mentioned

Out Of Control!!
Better answer is to get it it heat coated. I've got that done on the headers on both of my cars. Doesn't disintigrate or look nasty like wraps do (or retain moisture).

Also, you have nothing attached to the breather hose. You're gonna lose power from that. a lot of people (me included) have lost power when it cracks and breaks. Which it does. I keep a spare just in case that happens.
