Smart Key not so smart

Well you are all familiar with the trouble I've had with my C-Coupe over its lifespan.

New transmission -- warranty
New Supercharger -- warranty
New Wiring harness -- 1600
Countless Sensor Replacements -- warranty & 800.00
melted Rear Light elements -- warranty
AC Evaporator temp Sensor -- 200
AC Evaporator -- 2700

So I am trying ot get rid of it and lease a new bmw 325 to replace it but to add insult to injury the smart keys have now stopped working. I can only get in and out of the car with the manual key. I am not going to get a single cent out of this car it is a sinking ship. I finished paying the car off at the 3 1/2 year mark hoping to get another 3 years out of it but I have learned my lesson, lease only, cash up front.

hahaha. that would be a "good" idea, but the manual key does not turn the car on. the thief would need to tow the car away!

Take it to one of the "better parts of town" and leave it running............someone's bound to drive it off. Just make sure that you don't leave your info in it, as they might try to return it.

Geez...you have definitely had more than your share of problems with that car. The remote functions...lock/unlock/windows/trunk will stop working when the battery goes weak but the key will still unlock the steering and start. Do all the keys fail with a fresh battery?

Yes all of them fail with new batteries. My sphincter is already tensing up cause I know the stealer is gonna f**k me.

If none of your keys work, it sounds to me like there is a problem with the EIS not accepting the codes from the key. If it was a problem with the key, you would expect at least one of them to work. But, if it's the EIS, then none of them would work. Is this related to any of the work they did recently? Or any other type of event?

Wyatt, haven't heard from you in years, still have that coupe with the blownup s/c from putting on that Kleemann pulley ring? You should know better than to keep an MB past it's (warranty) expiration date. In reality, you've had less problems than many, you just had to pay for some because of the warranty expiring.

Sell the car as soon as possible, just make sure the doors are unlocked when they come to look at it. You'll enjoy the Bimmer, nice car.
