Battery life on remote

I got my car under a year ago and since then i have had to change my batteries on my remote already! i believe it lasted less than 10 months! so i'm using m y spare remote now. is it me or is that really poor life for a car remote? dont get me wrong i'm happy nothing is wrong with teh remote and it's only the battery but still! 10 months seem pretty bad to me.

It depends, do you use the function to roll your windows up when locking or roll them down when opening? I found out that this causes the battery to drain faster. I've had the battery in my key fob changed once, but it's already getting low again (range is shorter).

But yeah, I agree, the remote battery does have a poor battery life.

oh man, i should restrict from doing that. i use it to impress my friends sometimes:

- "hey, you forgot to roll up your windows"
- "oh did i?"
- "OH DAMN!"

nope, i dont even do that, i did only have the inital unlock open the driver door and since i usually drive passengers i endup clickingi t twice to open their doors, but have since changed it. it's pretty lame considering other remotes (factory or after market alarm remotes) last 2-3 years.

I actually like having to press it twice to let passengers in (just for safety purposes)...but that most likely contributes to the draining battery as well.

i had that problem too... but it could just be the wires touching your battery...

1) take out the real key, the metal thingy...
2) use it to press the button inside that hole...
3) it should release the top part out...
4) now, take the battery out...
5) press the 2 metal strips closer to each other...
6) but the battery back in...
7) put the key back together...
8) now try...

that's what i had to do, and mine worked awesome then...

The batteries that came with the car lasted about a year (after getting 2 different sets of new keys). The replacement batteries I bought have lasted over 3 years.
