C230 Swap Stock Radios...can It Be Done??

I just purchased a 2003 C230 and it is real plane jane (it sux) in the radio department. I was wanting to know if it is possible to put a MB C230 2005 radio/cd unit in my 2003 model. Would it have to be heavily modded? I would really like to keep the stock MB look. Any input woud be great!

photo of my 2003 unit and the 2005 unit i am interested in.....

Someone on the board that done it. I believe it was sunman. So it is possible but just alot money has to be invested and reprogramming.
It will be cheaper to go aftermarket.

no. sunman did a lot more than reprogramming...

the one you have is a DB2 (or D2B) based system while the 05's and up use a MOST based system. The controls and interfaces beneath all the different modules are pretty different and you have to change a lot of other components as well.

I agree, the MB Audio 10 CD is a great sounding radio and indash CD. I went with Comand and miss the sound quality of the Audio 10 but I like looking at the pretty maps on Comand.
