Guys,

Went to the gas station this morning and the fuel filler door would not open... Tried locking/unlocking with the Smart Key and the dash door lock/unlock botton several times, no luck. Tried the manual unlock procedure via the trunk (boot, for the Brits) as per the manual, also no luck.

Aside from going to the stealer tomorrow, anyone have any other ideas?

My car just did this as well. Read through the manual and said to turn the manual lock itself behind the rear trunk panel. The POS just broke right off!!!!

So I get the car back home and unbolt the motor for the fuel door release and find out that the pin had just come off the motor itself. The motor was fine but just came unhooked from the pin.

I hooked the pin back up and just pulled the fuse for it so I won't be stuck somewhere.

I'll put the fuse back in it when I sell it.

Anyone looking for a 02 C240 with 25K miles?

How did you break yours off? You just twist? I've tried mine before. The hardest part is finding out where the damn twisty thing is located while you're reaching in there blind.

I just barley twisted it and it popped off.

How about the dealer? How much can a fuel door cost (he says, knowing full well that it's some stupid expensive price)?

Nope. Just call up any dealer and ask for part number and cost. I doubt they'll be painted though, so ask and be prepared to pay for getting it painted as well.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned a wrecker? I'm sure somebody out there has trashed their silver C.

Sign up here to look up pn's for free.
https://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/coverage.jsp

You can check prices here and then compare to the local dealer.
Remove the "A" from the beginning of the pn to search.
Getting to be less and less dealers selling online.
Do a search on "trademotion" and "mercedes".

Actually, looks like you can do it just on the dealer site...
$66.30 + paint as pointed out.
(You can get cans of spray paint with factory color paints if you search, maybe DIY)
