When Driving 70mph, car swivels left and right

Hello All,
I have a 2006 C230. I have the car for about 3 weeks now. When I'm driving on the freeway, going around 70mph, I can feel the car pulling left and right in a rocking motion. Does anyone know the cause? I also notice the same thing when I was driving my sister's 2006 C230. Is this normal? Has anyone experience this in their car? I plan to take it to the dealership to have it check out.

i can understand the grooves making the car moving toward one side but i have never experienced anything that would make the car swivel left and right. That sounds really strange.

My 2005 c240 had the same problem, never found out the problem because I traded it in for a 2006 clk 350.

run pilotsport 2, contisport contact 1 or 2 or toyo t1-s on SoCal freeways. It's pretty appearant because the grooves are usually always twitchy. The C-class pulling to the one side thing is whole other story with tire tracking on the grooves cut on the freeway.

If he's experiencing the same problem on same cars for him and his sister, then the problem is definitely the tires.

Yup. It's real spooky on a motorcycle. Some tires/cars are worse/better than others.

Should I change the tires? Will the dealership give me new tires?

Lam - Have you checked the pressure in the front tires? They should be set at about 28 PSI cold, but sometimes they come from the dealer at closer to 40 or 45 PSI. (Or, I suppose, they might be UNDER-inflated instead).

Also, does your sister's car have the same tires as yours? If so, what brand and model?

there's nothing wrong with these tires. some tires are just have the tendency to follow those grooves more than the other.

you can change it at your own will, but that's just waste of money. Dealership's not gonna change the tires for you because of this reason since it's perfectly normal.

pressure is 30psi for front and back tires. My sister has Continental 225/45 R tires. I have Michelin 225/45 R tires.

Check for tire pressure and wear. Also, have you had your car aligned lately?
