Panorama blues
So I'm driving back from the Home Depot on sunday, and I opened the Pano as I always do. Right before I get on the expressway, I try to close it and hear two very loud cracks and actually cath a glimpse of the whole thing jerking around! Not good, me thinks, and leave it alone 'till I get home. Once home, I close it and it works OK, and then I try to open it and it only opens about an inch and it quits. Not an electronic quit like that middle position, but more like it slowly runs out of juice. Close it and open it several times but same result. I get on the roof to inspect things, thinking those damn squirrels must have dropped some nuts inside one of the rails, only to find a black spring about 3" long laying around in there! I doesn't look broken or anything, it's like it just popped out.
Anyway, I had to catch a plane early on Monday, so I'll have to wait till I get back to take it to the dealer.
Anyone have some idea of what might have happened?

mine made a loud noise when I opened it like that once, and I had trouble opening it ,so I closed the roof and held the button for several seconds to re-sink and it, has worked fine since.

I've had a different, but equally as weird of a problem with my pano roof. On 3 occasions now, I have pushed up on the open button to pop up the roof, and to my surprise, it was stuck! Not a mechanical kind of stuck, but rather a sticky kind of stuck. I actually had to give the roof a bit of a shove while pushing on the button, and it finally gave way. It also made a nasty sound. Sort of like walking with gum on your shoe.
Apparently the seal, when very hot, will melt a bit and stick the window shut. The dealer replaced the seals, and so far, no problem.
For a moment there, I was like "what the F***! Who's playing games with me..?"

Update on Panorama blues
I finally came around to getting the car to the dealer (I've been out of town). They took a look at it, very quickly figured out they couldn't fix it / didn't have the parts. They had no idea of what could have happened, but ordered the parts right away and I was supposed to wait for about a week for the parts to get in.
Today I got a call from my service rep, turns out the part is on national backorder and has to come from Germany, so it'll be a couple of weeks.

that is what the dealers always say..."oh, i'm sorry the part is on backorder"...sometimes it's true, but i'm sure that most of the time it's BS. try another dealer again. if the other dealer says the same thing than it is the truth.

Unfortunately, I'm tied to the one dealer in New Orleans, so I'll have to ride it out. It won't be so bad since I'll be out of the country for a couple of weeks again, and I'll just drop the car off on my way to the airport.

Shady Car
I left the shade ( panoramic roof ) open all winter to let the sun shine in. When I closed/opened the shade a few months ago, the shade did not fully retract, and the shade cloth bunched up. Now my shades are fully closed ( by the service department) , and i'm waiting to set up another appointment.
So, in the meantime. I have a shady automobile.
