What Is The Best And Cheapest Insurance?

My bother was getting ready to purchase a WRX, but since they want to charge him around 1000.00 every 6 months, hes decided not to purchase it. He curently has Geico, is 28 and has had nothing(including accidents) ever on his record. Can anyone here point him in the right direction? thanks.

I do state farm. Very good rates

EXCEPT

if you have had a lapse in insurance withign the last couple of years for any reason. Standard practise in maryland is to jack your rates up sky highfrom anywhere from 6 months to 2 years

Depends on what state you are from too -- For example, $1000/6 months on a WRX doesn't sound too horrible considering I pay close to $1700/6 months with the gecko for my C...- 24 yrs old, perfect driving record... oh they like to hose here in NJ ;-)....

I live in S. Florida and I pay about $1400 every 6 month for my C and my '92 325i with Geico. I have about 12 speeding tickets and 1 minor accident.
I'm 22 right now.

Well NJ has one of the highest rates in the country. My Benz is still on NJ insurance, my Truck is on Michigan insurance...full coverage, 1.5 million, $425 a year! I'm not going to mention how much I pay in NJ for the Benz.

Progressive is really cheap and pretty good.

I wouldn't suggest State Farm to an enemey. Read:

State Farm Mut. Auto. Ins. Co. v. Campbell, 538 U.S. 408

I wouldn't insure a Pinto with those crooks.

No insurance company is the cheapest for all situations... you just need to go out and get quotes. I've got progressive, and love it, plus it's about $400 cheaper every 6 months compared to everywhere else.

I just totalled my wife's car (2006 Dodge Charger RT, some dumb girl ran a red light)... progressive cut me a check for what the car was "worth". Turns out the check was for more than what a brand new one costs (since I get employee discounts). All in all, after sales tax breaks and mfg rebates, I came out about $2k ahead. My claims person was amazing... absolutely no problems. She even let me return my rental car in another city ($250 drop fee).

Yeah, same with me with Progressive. My truck is worth about $4,500 more then I paid (when you sign online to your account it says your vehicles current value). You also get a nice discount for paying up front instead of monthly, which I like.

Cheap insurance is great until you need it. I used to have "The General" until my wife was rear ended and it turned into a total nightmare because of their lack of followthorugh / lack of interest. I roll AAA now (California) and it is worth the extra few hundred if I have a problem, my sales person / adjustor are in a local office.

I was nervous about how the "cheap" progressive would handle my claim, but again, they were excellent - not one complaint.

The reason mine picked up the tab is because the stupid girl had the minimum amount of coverage. With 4 cars totalled - $25k doesn't go very far. (2 civics, 1 expedition, and my Charger RT)

I'm not sure if my rates will go up because of the accident, my policy isn't due for renewal until July. I doubt it will, this is my only claim in over 3 years, and the accident wasn't my fault. Suppose there is always a chance though.

If your insurance company cut you a check beyond what the girl's insurance could cover then I think that your insurance will go up...it might be very little though. Does your insurance company have some sort of loyalty program?

I pay about $1,100 a year for insurance now, but insurance rates are pretty high here because there are a lot of people that can't seem to keep those beer cans out of their cupholders. As slow as the speed limits are here there shouldn't be nearly as many accidents as there are.

I don't care how much Progressive charges, there is NO WAY I would ever do business with them.

I do have morals.

If the other party is at fault your rates will not budge! I just went through this and is the reason why im at theses forums today I got hit head on by a kid making a left turn in front of me. I filled claims with both insurance companies, his and mine and accepted the highest offer for settlement on my car. If you happen to take youre insurance companies offer they will litigate against the at fault ins. company and party at no cost to you to get the settlement back. if you settle with the other company yours will just simply drop the claim.

hope that helps someone. Just remember dont ever be afraid to file a claim with you company even when its not your fault. it might turn out to be financially productive.
