DVD player or PS2
Thanks
Tim
if you were to get the PS2, where would that be installed?

Your MB dealer said they could install it? Would they custom fit the molding for you in the center console (not DIN sized) and integrate it into the sound system and everything?
This sounds like exactly what I want to do! I was looking at an in-dash Kenwood system though...
If you could please pass on any information you think is important, that would be great!

The ONLY use I can imagine is for long drives with kids (having one myself). For long trips with kids, I'd think it would be more practical to buy a portable DVD and/or VHS player w/ LCD. As you can also take it out and use it in waiting rooms, hotel room, airport terminals, airplanes, etc.

Or... better yet, buy a laptop with a built-in DVD-drive. This way the kids can:
- watch movies
- play games
- learn C++
- and it's portable
In some states, it is illegal to have a "TV set positioned where it is visible to the driver while on." I have seen these units and they are nice, especially in vans/SUVs where the kids in the rear seats can see (but not the driver).
I had an '88 Dodge minivan with a cupholder shelf on the dash I converted to accomodate a 5" BXW portable TV. Try as I might to not watch while driving, there were those inevitable moments when I just had to look...
I understand the new units are factory-set not to play while the vehicle is in gear (if in sight of the driver). On previous posts, there has been discussion about disabling this lock-out provision, if the owner signs a liability waiver. However, you better be insured to the MAX if you run into my *** on the 405 while driving and playing video games (even if it's a front seat passenger playing).
States are gradually outlawing (non hands-free) cell-phone use. Look for this feature to be next on the hit list.
I watch too much TV as it is at home...
the PS2 will have a separate display - on an arm? while the pioneer will be in-dash.
the ps2 plays games - the pioneer has the navigation system (which i'd rather have). actually, i assuming that timmy's looking at the nav system.
If it were my money to blow, though, I'd take that money, and put into redoing the suspension, or new tires, or trim pieces, etc. More fun for the amount of time that you're going to use it, especially for the driver.
I agree with MB-BOB's overall view on the general topic, sad to say.
Change of opinion
..... I pick DVD player with navigation system.Good luck with your choice!
Either way, it's a win-win situation right? hehehe
