MB C230 Sport Coupe Kompressor
Question HIGHS/LOWS/FOGS - replacement lightbulbs

Peoples, i'm confused...

I called a couple of MB dealers in my area to confirm the type/wattage of the bublbs...

HIGH/LOW: 12v/55w/H7
FOG: 12v/55w/HB4 <--------------???

From reading around in forums i throught i read, 9006... BUT the dealer states that 9006 is not the same fit. He states that the HB4's are actually angled...

Someone please clarify...

Also how is HELLA Optilux compared to PIAA Platinum?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated...

trust me on this one, i just had it done. i have the light in my hand right now and it is the same as the 9006, exactley. if they tell you its not they are lying or just stupid. my dealer told me they where the wrong bulbs also. i am pasting this from a previous post i made.

Finally finished replacing all the lights, here is what i learned, some of this is repeat info but just thought i would post it so peole could find it.

fog lights 9006 55w
low beams H7 55w
high beams H7 55w
city lights bulb type 194 5w

if you have a 2003 model and want to replace fog lights you are going to have to take it to the dealer they changed the underbody panels and you can no longer change these bubls unless you jack up the car and pull the entire front underside piece off.

i got mine here, cheap and easy and looks GREAT!!!

The 9006 bulbs have an angled connector, and it can be called a HB4. Stick with Christian's bulb numbers, they're correct.

The bulbs listed on that site don't seem too reliable. Many recommend sticking to the big brands like PIAA and Razo, because the cheaper bulbs generally don't last as long, and are more cheaply made. Quality differences do show.

i have the cheap bulbs 15.99 (if that is cheap) on my 2001 jeep gran cherokee they lasted until i sold the car and got my C230, which was about a year, and where still working when i sold the car, i got the 115.00 top of the line PIAA bulbs for my motorcycle GSX-R 750 which one stopped working after 6 months, and didnt have a xenon look to them , but where really bright, so in my opionon brand doesnt matter so much as you might think, the eaglite bulbs work and look good, plus 15.99 should'nt hurt anyone with a MB in the driveway. as long as you do not touch the bulbs and wipe them before you put them in, they should last up to 5 years. yes i said wipe them before you put them in, this will remove any debri that you dont realize is there but is. use a non abrasive lint free wipe.
