Steve: Hope you didn't take my comment too seriously. I know that the "free carwash" offered by both Park Place and Ewing to their customers (along with other benefits) is a good thing. Since I always have a black car, and as my wife will confirm, a bit obsessive on keeping it looking good, I avoid any car wash offers like the plague!

Anyway, best of luck with the GTG on Saturday. Weather is starting to look a little better.

Rev,

Got any tips on car washing? I have that Mr.Clean AutoDry, and it seems to work well the first few times.........then I started noticing that the filter craps out pretty fast, and it leaves water spots. I'm pretty **** about my car too.......are water spots bad for the paint, or should I clean them off asap??

Thanks!!

It has a way where when you lock the car it chirps and I believe a couple of other special things.

Sunman,

Do you know how to "unlock" the Speedlimiter? Was told a tech could do this given the right incentive

I wish I could come this weekend - supposed to be nice driving weather. Hopefully you guys do this again.

No worries, hence the smiley(s) - and as mentioned... smiling while typing... :-) I have a black car in the family too and keeping it as "clean" as the silver car, well... ya know we're on the same page!

Thanks Steve!

Totally OT, but I just got back from having my first oil service done on my car; I took it to Park-Place MB in Dallas, TX. and had Steve Fordham as my Service Advisor. I highly recommend him for any service or advice you may need for your Mercedes!

Thanks Steve for going above and beyond with your service! With more service advisors like you, we'll have MB ranked #1 in Service again in no time!

actually... I went to see Steve this morning also! In fact, TA-9FF and I were there at the some time and waved (or did we say hi? i dont remember details) at each other without knowing who the other one was. Steve told me after TA-9FF had left that he'd been here and I was like "the asian guy that was standing right over there???"

oh yeah, so anyhow my point was that Steve is an awesome guy. This is also my first time taking my car to Park Place and I wouldn't have if it hadn't been for Steve.

I did have Steve once when my advisior was out. He was great.

However - when I called him yesterday and left him a voicemail, he had my old advisor call me back

I live in Frisco, but started bringing my car to Park Place as I feel the service is better and the tech are much better too. Used the other MB dealer in Plano - no names mentioned and simply don't like them + have an attitude.

I bought my car there. I was less than impressed with the service department. I told the service manager what the specific problems were and he said that they were trying to fix them. That tells me that they know about thir problems and are tolerating them. I told him that he just lost a customer and drove off. They never contacted me to see what they could do to regain my business. I guess they just don't care about it. That is OK with me. It was too far to drive anyway.

I switched to MB Mid-Cities and I have no complaints, except that my 1st choice of SA transferred to Waco. I think I will talk to Steve tomorrow and see if he can convince my to switch to Dallas from Mid-Cities, even though it is a longer drive for me.

In my experience, no dealership is ever perfect. In fact, far from it. I bought my car in Houston, at Houston North MB, and the sales guy that sold me my car had an attitude that astounded me; it was like he could care less if he sold the car to me or not! It wasn't any better when I had a Honda; I was lucky to even get someone to help me whenever I went in for my oil change appt. My sister's Volvo dealership in Vegas also has "attitude"; when she was rear ended and went to them to see what could be done, she kept getting "passed on" to someone else.....

Dealerships are usually just pain-in-the-asses in general, IMHO. But whenever you DO get a great service advisor, it makes the experience feel a bit better.

OT, I saw a used black Aston Martin DB9 for sale while I was there waiting on my oil change........what did I see on the hood???? It looked like etched-in SWIRL MARKSSSSSSS!!!

The salesman in Plano was the best automotive professional who I have ever worked with. I highly recommend him. I don't think the dealership there is all that bad, but they do not give me enough of a reason to make the drive up there.

I had some minor body work done at Park Place in Dallas. I can't speak highly enough about the service advisor and the body shop in general. There were some problems and they took care of them in a professional and efficient manner. They seem to have their act fully together.

*I* will most definitely be there! It just seems that there won't be any ladies accompanying me this time

(besides, I met one wed night who has immediately pushed all of the other girls completely out of my head and made me kinda rethink things a little... and I already know she is bussy with some school stuff Sat )

Glad you'll be there. I will bring a business card from the steakhouse in Ponder. Try to squeeze in a steak between your 20 semester hours. My wife especially likes the quail. See you tomorrow.
